DStv Premiership Report: Cape Town City v Sekhukhune United 05 ... (Soccer Laduma)

Cape Town City extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the DStv Premiership with a 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United on Saturday evening.

21. Mokeke, 27. Mashego, 21. However, the two goals were enough to see City walk away with maximum points in the Mother City, while Sekhukhune suffer back-to-back losses. With the visitors struggling to get the equaliser in the second half, coach Macdonald Makhubedu introduced both Justin Shonga and Ohizu after the hour mark. City nearly added a third goal with seven minutes left on the clock when substitute Mogamat May and Mayo combined to set up Thabo Nodada, who sent his effort over the crossbar. The visitors' equaliser did not knock the wind of City's sail, as the host went on to grab the second goal three minutes before the break through Mayo's curled finish. Sekhukhune weren't behind for too long as skipper Yusuf Maart restored parity with his second leg goal of the season in the 18th minute. There were recalls for Khanyisa Mayo, Craig Martin and Taahir Goedeman in the City line-up after their goalless draw with Orlando Pirates. Eric Tinkler's decision to start Martin and Mayo paid off after just two minutes, as the former slotted home from close range after Nsabata could only the latter's shot. For the visitors, Willard Katsande was given a start in midfield while top scorer Chibuike Ohizu, who has scored seven goals, was only named on the bench.

DStv Premiership Report: Golden Arrows v Chippa Unted 06 March ... (Soccer Laduma)

Chippa United boosted their survival hopes in the DStv Premiership after a last-gasp 2-1 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday afternoon.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Sandile Mthethwa snatched the winner in the last minute with a finish at the back post to send Kurt Lentjies' troops up to 13th on the log, three points clear of the relegation zone. Arrows had a big chance to restore their lead on the stroke of half-time after Andile Fikizolo went through on goal but goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua spread himself and made a crucial save. Seema's men were on the front foot early in the second stanza but only came close to going ahead 24 minutes before time after a cross by Sbonelo Cele found Pule Mmodi unmarked in the box but he dragged his shot wide. Arrows had a perfect start as Mmodi gave them the lead within the first minute after he intercepted a bad back pass, got past a couple of challenges and fired a strike into goal. The sides refreshed their attacks at halftime, as Chippa withdrew Eva Nga and brought on Thokozani Sekotlong while Michael Gumede replaced Fikizolo for Arrows. Lehlohonolo Seema's charges continued to pressurise Chippa but the visitors were also fired up and eventually levelled matters just before the half-time break courtesy of strike by Siphesihle Mkhize.
