The Women of Made Smarter Innovation (unknown)

As reported by The Manufacturer on IWD while women make up at least half of the global workforce, only 37% of women work within manufacturing.

Linda is also a mentor to colleague, the University’s Aurora Champion and places ED&I at the core of her teamwork and assists colleagues whether undergraduate or a professor to succeed. As for being part of the Made Smarter Innovation Challenge – it certainly is never boring. Professor Janet Godsell is the co-director of the Made Smarter Innovation funded InterAct Network, she is also the Dean of Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics. As well as academic success, Professor Godsell has held many senior positions in industry. Nicole started her career as an engineering sponsored student with Metalbox – a 15yr career that led to exciting manufacturing leadership roles throughout Europe. Subsequent varied management roles in the support sector have seen Nicole develop and collaborate in technology & innovation strategies in a whole variety of companies in a plethora of sectors. Since joining Made Smarter Innovation, Natalie has become an EDI advocate at Innovate UK, a champion for equality, diversity and inclusion within the challenge team. But we must lead by example and celebrate the women in the manufacturing sector and their diverse backgrounds to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.

For me, the key is to do everything we can to break the stereotypical image of industry and encourage more young girls to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers. Bizarrely, I used to love the smell and the grime and having to use Swarfega to clean my hands after each visit. I still vividly remember when I used to go to see dad at work and wandering around the factory.

This display of the judo values was enough to bring her nation firmly on to her side. In the first wave, a new season of ‘Survivor’ was aired in Israel and the Israeli public who already knew and loved her based on her physical achievements, were able to learn about the person and have appreciation for her in a whole new light. Since hanging up her competitive judogi she has used her sporting achievements to take on the rest of the world.

Advancing gender equality in the context of the climate crisis and disaster risk reduction is one of the greatest global challenges of the 21st century.

Continuing to examine the opportunities, as well as the constraints, to empower women and girls to have a voice and be equal players in decision-making related to climate change and sustainability is essential for sustainable development and greater gender equality. As exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic and social fallout impacted women and girls disproportionately, further challenging their ability to withstand the impacts of the climate and environment crises. We have the opportunity to benefit from the leadership of women and girls environmental defenders and climate activists to guide our planet’s conservation.

Statement on International Women's Day - 8 March 2022 - World (ReliefWeb)

English News and Press Release on World and 4 other countries about Gender and Epidemic; published on 07 Mar 2022 by UNDP.

96% of second-generation NDCs supported under the Climate Promise include references to gender compared to 48% of first-generation NDCs. Or look to the Feminist Action for Climate Justice Action Coalition, co-led by UNDP and a consortium of partners. UNDP and the University of Pittsburgh's Global Report on Gender Equality in Public Administration shows that even though women are disproportionately impacted by the climate and environmental crises, they are still hitting a glass ceiling that stops them from advancing to the highest levels of leadership in environmental protection and climate action. This approach also holds true when it comes to tackling climate change and environmental degradation; and boosting disaster risk reduction -- the theme of this year's Commission on the Status of Women. Women play a crucial role in the climate and environmental sectors, and they are often leading frontline natural resource management strategies. In Ukraine, as with many other crisis and conflict contexts, from Afghanistan and the Sahel to Myanmar and Yemen -- increasing the full, equal, and meaningful participation of women in peacemaking, conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts is crucial to find lasting solutions. Yet environmental degradation and increased competition over scarce resources are exacerbating the risk of gender-based violence while women environmental human rights defenders, including indigenous women, often face threats and violence. The situation jeopardizes the safety of all Ukrainians and, as with other conflicts in other parts of the world, puts women and girls in particular at increased risk of sexual and gender-based violence, especially those who are refugees or otherwise displaced from their homes.

Statement by President Joe Biden on International Women's Day ... (The White House)

On International Women's Day, we recognize the achievements of women and girls in the United States and across the globe, celebrate the progress we've.

And it’s why I’m proud that my FY 2023 Budget will request $2.6 billion for foreign assistance programs that promote gender equality worldwide, more than doubling the amount requested for gender programs last year. It’s why we’ve invested in child care and supported women’s economic opportunity through the American Rescue Plan; fought to reauthorize and strengthen the Violence Against Women Act; addressed the scourge of sexual assault in the military through sweeping military justice reforms; signed the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act into law; launched a whole-of-government effort to protect reproductive rights; advanced women’s participation in conflict prevention and resolution, stability and security; and created a Gender Equity and Equality Action Fund to promote the economic security of women around the world. Ensuring that every woman and girl has that chance isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s also a strategic imperative that advances the prosperity, stability, and security of our nation and the world.

International Women's Day is on 8 March. From politics to sport and entertainment, women including Xiomara Castro and Jane Campion are excelling in 2022.

By promoting and completing this challenge, it allows me to act as a role model to young people, women and those from ethnic backgrounds.” Chandi is thought to be the first woman of colour to complete the journey unsupported. Federal appellate judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was nominated by President Joe Biden to become the first Black woman to serve on the US Supreme Court. Her nomination on 25 February fulfilled a campaign promise Biden made exactly two years earlier to deliver the historic appointment. Australian Hannah Green became the first woman to win a mixed-gender professional golf tournament, at the TPS Murray River event in her home country. Appointed in January as the first woman to run Jamaica's military, Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss Gorman has faced down danger and sexism in her 29-year career but hasn't let gender hold her back. To turn these insights into concrete action and national progress, we have developed the Closing the Gender Gap Accelerators model for public private collaboration. This includes extended parental leave, subsidized childcare and removing unconscious bias in recruitment, retention and promotion practices.
