Traci Braxton, Television Personality and Singer, Dies at 50 (The New York Times)

She was perhaps best known for her appearances on the reality show “Braxton Family Values” with her siblings and their families.

She worked as a social worker before the sisters reunited for “Braxton Family Values.” She released her solo debut album, “Crash & Burn,” in 2014, and a follow-up album, “On Earth,” in 2018. Ms. Braxton also appeared on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” with her husband, Kevin Surratt. Traci Braxton was perhaps best known for her appearances on the reality television show “Braxton Family Values” with her sisters Tamar, Toni, Towanda and Trina and her brother, Michael, and their families. One of Ms. Braxton’s sisters, the singer Toni Braxton, confirmed her death in a statement from the Braxton family on Instagram. The cause was esophageal cancer, a publicist said. She was perhaps best known for her appearances on the reality show “Braxton Family Values” with her siblings and their families.

In 2011, the five sisters reunited on WE tv reality series Braxton Family Values, running for seven seasons. Traci found solo success hosting her own radio show, The Traci Braxton Show, on the BLIS.F.M. in 2013. I love my mother forever and this hurts so much but I’m at peace knowing she’s isn’t in pain anymore.” She’s survived by her son; her husband, Kevin Surratt Sr.; her siblings; and her mother.

The “Last Call” singer started her career alongside her sisters Toni, Towanda, Trina and Tamar as part of pop group The Braxtons and although the group was commercially unsuccessful, eldest sister Toni went on to have solo success with songs such as “Un-Break My Heart” and Traci became known for her appearances on “Braxton Family Values”, which followed the relationships of the famous family for almost a decade between 2011 and 2020. “We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life We are family forever.” Alongside a black-and-white family photo, Toni wrote: "It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci. Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer.
