Nxumalo stated that Harmse was assessed numerous times before his release on parole. The Department has ensured the community that they are safe. She stated that the man, now in his 30s, has not been rehabilitated. The psychological report found that Harmse experiences hallucinations. In 2008, Harmse underwent a psychological assessment that determined he was fit to stand trial. It has been 14 years since Morne Harmse walked into his school and committed a horrific crime.
