Knowing full well that a showdown with Inter — and have the chance to overtake those you-know-whats for third place — is what lies ahead after the international break, Juventus can’t afford any kind of slip up. It’s been a tough week for Max Allegri and his squad, and the last thing this team needs is for any kind of silly business to happen against the worst team in the league. In facing Salernitana tonight, Juventus has the chance to get three more valuable points against a team that, while improved over the last month or two, is still very much far from a team that looks like it’s going to get out of the relegation zone any time soon. That’s the simple part of the equation. Maybe Juventus will play with some sort of anger because of what happened Wednesday night in the Champions League. Or maybe they’ll just slog through what happened because of how emotionally fried they are because of what happened Wednesday night in the Champions League. We just don’t know because this team is so unpredictable. There is all of 90 minutes to go before Juventus heads into another international break and we turn our attention toward Italy’s World Cup play-off matches and if the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci will get one last chance to play on the biggest stage in the game.

Juventus 2-0 Salernitana: Player ratings as Bianconeri extend Serie ... (Old Juve)

The Juventus player ratings from their 2-0 victory over Salernitana that extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to 16 games.

Matthijs de Ligt (CB) – 6.5/10 – A quiet afternoon quickly became very busy for De Ligt after half-time as Juve’s defensive line deepened and Max Allegri opted to cede more control to the opposition. This was another sturdy showing from the Italian, who was Juve’s best performer in the defeat to Villarreal. A good day’s work.

Juventus Player Ratings vs Salernitana: 8/10 for Dybala and... (The Hard Tackle)

A returning Paulo Dybala impressed for Juventus as the Bianconeri strengthened their hopes for a top-four finish with a 2-0 win over Salernitana.

He had few clear openings as Juventus were content to sit deep and defend their lead in the second half. His influence waned in the second half, and he was called upon to fulfil several functions, something that he did with decent effect. Vlahovic was largely isolated up front in the second half but looked likely to add to his tally when presented with an opportunity. At the same time, though, he did well in defensive actions, but his ability to make a difference while on the ball was suspect. It was a rather quiet outing for the Dutch international as Juventus dominated proceedings in the first half of the match. The Frenchman often draws flak for his passenger-like performances, but he has taken his game up a notch in recent weeks. He did well to claim the high balls inside the box and was at hand to deny Federico Bonazzoli with a smart save. He appeared to be some way away from full fitness and was replaced by Daniele Rugani at the break. He was also solid defensively and appears to have come into some good form at just the right moment. For now, they have given themselves enough breathing space in the race for a top-four finish and could even be set to finish higher should results go their way. Massimiliano Allegri made several changes to the side that fell short in midweek, and it helped make the difference on the day. The win extends the Turin giants’ unbeaten run in Serie A to 16 games ahead of the crunch clash against defending champions Inter Milan after the international break.

Dybala and Vlahovic earn Juventus easy win over Salernitana (ESPN)

First-half goals from Paulo Dybala and Dusan Vlahovic earned Juventus a comfortable 2-0 win over bottom side Salernitana on Sunday, as Massimiliano Allegri's side kept in touch with Serie A leaders AC Milan. Starting his first game in more than a month ...

"It's an important stage of the season, we can still have our say in Serie A and the Coppa Italia." "My job is to do well in these final weeks of the season," Allegri told DAZN. "Once we raised the intensity level this season and played more as a team, the results have been marvellous. Striker Vlahovic then missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0, before making one count, rising highest to head home and effectively put the game to bed in the 29th minute.

Juventus vs Salernitana Preview and Lineups – Serie A Round 30 - (The Cult of Calcio)

Juventus and Salernitana are set to trade tackles at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday as the Bianconeri look to bounce back for midweek fiasco.

Curiously, after losing 17 of their opening 21 Serie A fixtures this season (W3, D1), the Granata have only lost once in their last six league outings (D5). With each of their last three league visits to current top-eight teams seeing them let in 4+ goals, the visitors could have another long Sunday afternoon. After all, they have no more reasons to take their foot off the gas. The Bianconeri have not lost any of their last 32 Serie A meetings with relegation-battling opponents (W28, D4) since going down 2-1 to Hellas Verona in May 2016. Allegri will turn to Dusan Vlahovic to prevent any potential upset, with the Serbian prodigy netting 20 goals this Serie A season, only two fewer than the entire Salernitana squad altogether. After going unbeaten in five of their last six Serie A outings (D5, L1), Davide Nicola’s men are heading to Turin in high spirits.
