Bridgerton Season 2 Finale Recap: Did Kate and Anthony End Up ... (TVLine)

Few things are more clarifying than a near-death experience. This is what happened to Kate when she almost died after being thrown from her horse in a ...

The monarch argued she had been the one to call off the marriage between Anthony and Edwina because she changed her mind. More than anything, Lady Mary wanted Kate to know she loved her and she had since the day she met her. Before their dance, Kate even suggested to Anthony the Ton would take pity on her because of her head injury. Kate explained Anthony had asked her to marry him out of obligation and not love, and she couldn’t allow it. Kate said no and admitted the only person she had been lying to was herself. He also blamed himself for Kate’s accident because the two had passionately made love the night before and Kate felt so guilty, she tried to clear her head with a risky and rapid horse ride in the rain.

'Bridgerton' Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: Hasty Resolutions (Decider)

Daphne and Simon at least had their “honeymoon episode” before their drama flared up again, but Kate and Anthony get only a brief moment before a game of Pall ...

The queen may have pulled their bacon out of the fire—or however that saying goes—by taking credit for the scuttled wedding, but between Eloise’s harsh words to Penelope, and Colin’s thoughtlessly cruel disregard for her feelings, it seems certain Lady W will no longer go so easy on the Bridgertons. Not that exposing Marina Thompson or Eloise was “going easy”, but really the only time Lady W targeted the Bridgertons was to save them from some worse scandal, and I cannot think that will be the case going forward. This is a GREAT scene, tremendously acted by Claudia Jessie and Nicola Coughlan, I just wish it had more space within the episode because this falling out is going to have significant repercussions, there’s no way it won’t, and it deserves to take up more story space and breathe, to really let us sit with the destruction of this friendship, as bad a breakup as Bridgerton has ever seen. It makes one wonder how the events of Benedict’s season, coming up next, will unfold, given that the most laid back of the Bridgertons is the one who courts the greatest scandal of them all. Another reason to wish the pacing of these final episodes was better is to give more room to the confrontation between Eloise and Pen when Eloise discovers Penelope is Lady Whistledown. It’s a horrible, painful fight to watch, it really feels like the worst kind of friend breakup, and their respective hurt is palpable. It also could have better integrated Will Mondrich and his new club into the larger story, but that whole subplot literally popped up in just the final two hours of the season. Yet we don’t get any of that, there’s no thematic consistency driving the story of Kate and Anthony.

'Bridgerton' Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: Into The Fire (Decider)

For a show that was esteemed in its first season for its portrayal of pleasure, Bridgerton has been remarkably chaste this season.

And after this buildup—all this foreplay—Kate and Anthony deserve their moment in the sun. She is the wronged party here!—and she is RAKING Kate and Anthony over the coals. Sure, the stares and the pining between Kate and Anthony are their own kind of sexiness—the yearning is palpable, and all that tension is delicious—but with so many subplots still to resolve, and Kate ending this episode unconscious after a fall from her horse (a beautifully photographed sequence, by the way), it feels like we’re going to have to ram through the resolutions to all these storylines without much ceremony. It does, however, allow for a moment of collegiality between the Bridgertons and Sharmas, and Anthony and Hyacinth—the Bridgerton “bookends”—have a nice moment, too, where we actually get to see Anthony being a surrogate father for a second. Following the aborted nuptials between Anthony and Edwina, the Bridgertons and the Sharmas are on the brink of social ruin, the object of scrutiny by the ton, and served more than one cut direct. We are in the penultimate episode of Bridgerton Season 2 (Episode 7, “Harmony,” was written by Oliver Goldstick and directed by Cheryl Dunye) and things are hella awkward between Kate and Edwina, Anthony and everyone, the queen and Lady Whistledown, just lots of tension and upset going around.

The Penelope Moment That Went Too Far On Bridgerton Season 2 (unknown)

Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) is holding onto a huge secret in Bridgerton Season 2 and one moment about that secret involving Eloise goes too ...

However, she only does so after Eloise threatens to pretend to be Lady Whistledown. Penelope fears that her best friend, who now disdains the woman she once admired, will destroy her legacy. Penelope believes she's helping Eloise when she reveals to the ton her friend is pursuing her political passions. After Penelope's Lady Whistledown reveals that Eloise is consorting with political radicals, Ms. Bridgerton suffers another blow by her best friend's hand.

'Bridgerton' Season 2 Episode 4 Recap (unknown)

And while the mistress of Aubrey Hall and her daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), have their hands full making preparations and keeping the guests entertained, ...

He stares at his mother’s engagement ring and, for a moment, it looks like he has decided to listen to Daphne. But as Edwina is about to get into her carriage, Anthony strides out of the manor, gets down on one knee, and asks her to marry him. Instead of a wealthy bachelor, Jack is a penniless man, and all of his ruby mines in the Americas have failed. Anthony tries to explain himself to his sister, who compares the situation in which she found him with her compromising moment with the duke (Regé-Jean Page) in Season 1. The day of the ball finally arrives, and Eloise allows Penelope and her mother to convince her to accept her first foray into the dance floor. Edwina convinces her sister to take to the floor with Anthony in order to make the final arrangements for the proposal, but the dance doesn’t go exactly as planned. Inspired by a conversation with Prudence (Bessie Carter) about entrapping men into marriage, she arranges for her daughter and Jack to be found alone at the manor’s orangery by a number of Lady Bridgerton’s guests. Colin says that he wanted to apologize for his previous actions and to tell her he has forgiven her for trying to deceive him about her pregnancy. Miss Sharma tries to talk to the viscount about what happened the day before, but can’t seem to find her voice. Edwina blames her sister for the viscount’s failure to propose and asks her to smooth things out with him. Miss Sharma is initially reluctant, but after Anthony doubts her hunting skills, she decides to tag along, chaperoned by a poor maid that can’t seem to balance herself on her horse. The fact that Eloise seems to be legitimately interested in the pamphlets, and not just hunting for Lady Whistledown, offers some consolation, but poor Penelope never seems to catch a break: when Colin (Luke Newton) announces that he’s paying a visit to Marina (Ruby Barker), we can almost see her heart breaking into a million pieces. Upon arriving at Aubrey Hall, she’s horrified to learn that not only is Eloise (Claudia Jessie) still going back to the printer for more women's rights pamphlets, but that she even knows the shop’s apprentice by name.

Will the Sharma sisters return in 'Bridgerton' season 3? (unknown)

'Bridgerton' creator Chris Van Dusen and stars Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran weigh in on whether we'll see the Sharma sisters again in season 3.

And I love the fact that she has her own wants and needs and desires and feelings." I'm super excited to see them super loved up and happy in that sense." Ashley adds, "I'm super excited to see the post-marriage Kate and Anthony, to see them happy.
