"Raphinha is a player who has generated a lot of transfer talk in recent weeks, with Barcelona reportedly interested in snapping him up this summer. Meanwhile, Leeds have won their last two games in the top flight, after losing their first two under new boss Jesse Marsch. They played really well against Manchester City in the FA Cup but ended up losing 4-1, which I felt was a bit harsh.

Not everything always led to chances for the team, but Rodrigo had the nous and ability to find pockets for the side and at least threaten to pump life into the game. Lacking that composure and close control around the box to keep chances alive for the team. Really found a licence to raid forward in the final quarter of the match and caused issues.

Leeds draw but will 'only get better', says Marsch (BBC Sport)

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch believes his side will "only get better" despite them being denied a third straight win in a hard-fought game with Southampton.

It was a step forward for us that in such an intense game we had the chance to win it. "We had a good break, we were fresh today. "I think we are only going to grow and get better. This season, he leads the way with three, one more than Newcastle's Kieran Trippier. Maybe in the last phase of the match we were unlucky not to find more. I know the coach well and he has done a good job with his team.

Every word Jesse Marsch said on Leeds United staff mix-up, Saints ... (Leeds Live)

Every word Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch said to the media following his side's 1-1 draw with Southampton at Elland Road.

But I also knew that with our fitness, with the players that we could bring on from the bench, that we would be able to push the game as it went on and we talked about that before the match, that we would have to have an intensive start, but that we felt that as the match went on that we would be able to gain the edge. And we know what a quality player is and what he means to the group. Everyone I see I go to say good game to the players and to the opponent and everyone's looking at the board to see what the results were. But I just feel like the whole group is so locked in and so committed and wants to learn and wants to get better and better. And we have the quality to manage the moment if we can continue to push that in the right way. So you know, obviously, we want to keep developing him and keep pushing him but I've been really happy with the progress that he's made over the last month and I think if he can continue to understand tactically and understand the mentality of the way we want to play, that he can get better and better and better. We keep trying to push him to play more intensively to get better at counter-pressing, to really win his duels and his aerial duels and the more that he can expand his presence on the pitch with and without the ball is just going to make us better and better. So with Joffy we haven't been able to get him coming and get the rhythm and training and everything the way that we have wanted, which has meant that he's played more of a reserve role, but I thought he came on the game and gave a real boost and was clear with the role and was dangerous at times and so we certainly I think you have to consider expanding his role more and more and more within the team and we need him to train. And so it means that in certain moments, we want them to slow down a little bit and not always physically but just in their heads with the ball have a little bit more poise and control with how to put together the next play. I was always a little bit concerned if Cooper could make it the 90 minutes and given the way it was, it was good that he was able to play a full match and get himself going. So we knew that that was going to be important not to give fouls away and then that we had to defend that well, so he put it right in the corner like we were worried he might. But Liam was feeling heavy and we wanted to get him out of the game and put Pascal at the centre back position but we talked about to Pascal before the match that he might have to be a solution at left back if anything happened to Stuart Dallas and so he came in the game, Stuart went to the right and it wound up being fine, but yeah, clearly the communication wasn't what it needed to be.

The French stopper was doing little to relieve the pressure his team was under. Tim Sherwood has backed Leeds United to tie their star man Raphinha down to a new contract despite heavy reports of a move away from Elland Road.

But Leeds is a massive football club and if they stay in the league and want to invest in the side, why don’t you stay for the future? “He’s got a swagger about him as well and looks like he could play at the highest level. That shape got pace and strength and he sees the pass and gives it at the right time.

Match Recap: Leeds United 1-1 Southampton (Through It All Together)

The Whites and Saints share the spoils at Elland Road.

Leeds might’ve maintained more control in this one, but a positive no doubt is to have the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper back in action. At the other end, Elyounoussi might’ve done better when the ball dropped to him unexpectedly in the Leeds penalty area, but his strike was straight down the throat of Meslier. It was end-to-end action from the get-go as Dan James and Diego Llorente were the early dangermen for Leeds in the opening minutes.

Read the game well in the main, made interceptions, made life tough for Saints attackers in the air. Got forward to good effect though and kept going.Better in the second half as the game went on, than in the first when Livramento caused issues. BIG GOAL - Jack Harrison opened the scoring for Leeds United in the first half, but they were held to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road by Southampton. Pic: Jonathan GawthorpeLeeds United welcomed back Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips in their 1-1 Elland Road draw with Southampton. Captain Cooper started against the Saints and was solid defensively as his side dominated most of the first half and took a deserved lead through Jack Harrison. Southampton worked their way back into the game in the latter stages of the first half and then came out flying following the interval, a sublime James Ward-Prowse free-kick levelling matters. Both sides had chances to win it, Leeds recovering from their poor start to the second half as Phillips came off the bench to calm the home side down but there was to be no victor and the spoils were shared.Leeds are now unbeaten in three and sit eight points clear of the drop zone thanks to Watford's 2-0 defeat by Liverpool earlier in the day.Made some smart saves, distribution wasn't great, some good balls to Ayling before playing it out became more problematicStruggled with Kyle Walker-Peters in the second half having done well in the first half.

How the Premier League relegation picture looks after Leeds ... (Leeds Live)

After a run of form bettered only by Liverpool, Leeds United might start looking at how high they can climb.

So Everton could leapfrog Leeds, and Burnley could leapfrog Watford, but the points gap between Burnley and Watford to Everton and Leeds looks insurmountable. The two will meet in a vital clash at Vicarage Road next Saturday. Posing little threat of catching Leeds are Norwich City in bottom place, 12 points behind the Whites. Above Norwich are Burnley on 21 points, one behind Watford and nine behind Leeds, but with three games in hand over Leeds. Watford have played two matches more than Burnley and face away trips to Manchester City and Chelsea. Burnley’s run-in includes home matches to Everton, Southampton, Wolves, Aston Villa and Newcastle, with away trips to Watford and Norwich. So it might be that Burnley leapfrog Watford by the end of the season, but climbing out of the relegation zone looks difficult. Elsewhere in the Premier League today, Burnley lost 2-0 to Manchester City and Watford lost 2-0 to Liverpool, helping Leeds to safety.
