'Huge game for both' - Sheffield United v QPR prediction: The72 (The 72 - We Love the Football League)

Both sides go into this one needing to regain form if they want to stay within the Championship's play-off race.

Whereas for their opponents Sheffield United, they have been inconsistent at best of late. A draw wouldn’t do an awful lot for either side, but I can’t see the points being shared. As for QPR, they’ve been on a constant downwards spiral after having such an impressive first-half to the campaign.

Such is the nature of the playoff race, that every three points from here on in is massive. And in what is a huge game against the R’s tonight, Blades boss Heckingbottom has hinted that we could see a debut for new signing, Filip Uremovic.

'Impressive': Sheffield United supporters react to crucial victory over ... (ChronicleLive)

United moved back into the top six and made it four clean sheets in a row with their 1-0 win against QPR.

Luton, who occupy the position above Paul Heckingbottom’s side, were unable to hold onto their lead against Peterborough which further throws open the promotion race. It keeps their push for an immediate return to the Premier League very much alive as the victory helps them into fifth. Games in hand for both Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough in the places below means their fate isn’t quite in their own hands but, with six games left, there is plenty of time for United to strengthen their grip on a play-off place.

Sheffield United beat QPR with a 1-0 victory at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night.

Gibbs-White then missed another great chance in the final minute of the game. Rangers pressed for a leveller, but it would be United who would have the next opportunity, with Gibbs-White scuffing a low shot into the hands of Westwood from the edge. However, the fast start soon petered out as possession ebbed and flowed between the two sides, with little happening until the 74th minute when Lyndon Dykes’ delivery almost caught out Foderingham following a deflection from Egan. But the ball instead nestled on the roof of the net, much to the relief of the Blades' support.

Queens Park Rangers fell further off the pace of the Championship's play-off race, losing 1-0 to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Warburton, though, might have more immediate concerns in the hours to follow. Lyndon Dykes bludgeoned a shot at Wes Foderingham’s near post and Chair clipped a free-kick into the wall, but nothing substantial presented itself. It was credit to Warburton that his substitutes proceeded QPR’s best spell of the game heading into the final quarter.

Sheffield United 1 QPR 0: Wasteful Blades give fans anxious ... (Yorkshire Post)

Anyone planning a nice relaxing evening watching the football at Bramall Lane made a bad choice last night.

If only Oli McBurnie’s pass had not been cut out, the second would have been just as good, and 10 minutes later. The last time they lost there, Slavisa Jokanovic was the manager. At times Sheffield United were wonderful to watch but anyone who left early was taking a huge risk. Norwood put him through with a headed pass but again the centre was cut out and there were groans as his pass for Baldock was overhit. The Blades came out reinvigorated after the break, a terrific Berge pass inside the first minute releasing Gibbs-White to put in a cross cut out by Westwood, inevitably given constant but harmless earache when in front of the Kop. It was a fair reflection of the football the Blades were playing, with Norwood and Fleck excellent in midfield, McBurnie and Gibbs-White mobile and inventive in front of them.

I was pleased with lots of things I saw." "It gets even bigger at this business end of the season and with what's at stake. "If we'd capitalised with one of the breaks we had, for instance when Morgan went through, things would have been lot simpler but the fact it wasn't meant we had to rely on that defensive solidity. We've laid it out to him what we expect and what it's going to take for him to get there. The only frustration was that he did not have more to work off, with promising-looking through-balls just cut out or overhit and crosses failing to find their man. "He would have started at the weekend if it weren't for a thigh strain.

Team news has been confirmed and Paul Heckingbottom makes three changes to the side that lost 1-0 at Stoke on Saturday. Croatian international Filip Uremovic makes his debut, coming in for Jack Robinson with Ben Davies moving across to the left of the back three. They currently trail sixth-placed Blackburn by one point but have a better goal difference. That form has seen them drop down to ninth having been in the promotion places for much of the season and United can really turn up the heat on one of their rivals by taking all three points here.

The Blades returned to the play-off pack following tonight's victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Very good on the ball, produced some good set-play delivery and it was his corner for Norwood's opener. Brought energy and tenacity down the right and got in behind his man on a couple of occasions. Came close to scoring too when he was on the end of a ball into the box following a corner but his effort went wide. Was as good as he has been recently, spreading play, outside of the foot passing, and picking out his team mates with some lovely balls. Final ball not good enough at times, though, and also gave away a needless free-kick right on the edge of his own area late on. In the right place to clear the danger inside his own area on a couple of occasions.

Sheffield United picked up a vital three points against QPR on Tuesday night, and one man who really impressed was Oli McBurnie.

McBurnie was efficient with his shooting too – although he only had one shot, it was on target, giving him 100% shot accuracy. No player can say they won more, with QPR’s Rob Dickie and Lyndon Dykes winning eight, while the nearest Sheffield United player was John Egan on five. The game was decided early on thanks to a well-placed finish from Ollie Norwood after John Fleck’s corner.
