The Reds saw off Coventry City 2-0 with goals from Brennan Johnson and James Garner at the City Ground.

“But it was an important win. “And then we saw out a challenging game fairly comfortably. “And then at half-time, I said all of those things to the players. Because of that, we didn’t get the fluidity in the game. But we turned the ball over too much in the first half and we didn’t make enough passes. But Cooper’s side found a way to secure the three points with what proved to be a comfortable scoreline in the end.

The Reds beat Coventry City 2-0 at the City Ground to go fifth in the Championship table.

“It doesn’t count for anything being in the top-six today. “We can’t think too much about the league position going into games. In the end, that’s how we will win games.

Nottingham Forest defeated Coventry City to make it four league wins in succession with Brennan Johnson and James Garner scoring the goals.

Tried his hardest and at times was perhaps guilty of trying too hard. Referee Tim Robinson was typically very reluctant to give him a free kick but that didn’t stop his strength. Similar to his defensive brilliant away at Sheffield United he produced a wonderful piece of defending in the first half, sprinting back to get involved. Took his goal in the second half well. Garner was once again excellent and United must be rubbing their hands together at the thought of next season. Still, this was a steady performance from the centre-back.

James Garner shines as Nottingham Forest win yet again (Seat Pitch)

Nottingham Forest defeated Coventry City 2-0 at the City Ground and in James Garner, the Reds have a player brimming with confidence.

Forest didn’t win any of the first three games Garner played and he must have been wondering whether he’d made a mistake coming back. On current form, Garner might just help Forest join United in the top-flight before he departs the City Ground. For a young talent, he has a mature head on his shoulders, making him a player that looks tailor-made for the Premier League.

Coventry City team news v Nottingham Forest (Coventry Live)

The Sky Blues are in Championship action against in-form Forest at the City Ground tonight.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is under no illusions as to the job in hand but remains confident his players can rise to the challenge, saying: "It will be a brilliant game and brilliant atmosphere. He’s added pace and power and are on the front foot, so we have just got to see if we can turn the tide a little bit.” It looks a daunting task on paper, however, given Steve Cooper’s men are on an impressive eight-game unbeaten run in the league, having won their last three, their latest a 4-1 thrashing of Blackpool away from home, having previously put three past QPR and four past Reading at home.

Nottingham Forest must watch Coventry man Martyn Waghorn (Seat Pitch)

Nottingham Forest take on Coventry tonight and in Martyn Waghorn, the visitors have a player who loves scoring against the Reds.

He scored and assisted two as Wigan won 4-1 at the City Ground in Billy Davies’ second spell in charge. Although he’s not a particularly good player, he does seem to come up trumps against Forest. Waghorn had actually signed for the Rams in a deal worth £5 million from Ipswich in August 2018.

The Reds will look to extend their unbeaten run in the league as they take on the Sky Blues at the City Ground.

And he is among the substitutes again as Brice Samba keeps his place between the posts. A Brennan Johnson brace, and goals from Philip Zinckernagel and Sam Surridge clinched the three points at Bloomfield Road. And first up is a meeting with the Sky Blues.

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has named his team to play Coventry City in this evening's Championship encounter.

They led for a large amount of the game but two goals in the last five minutes saw the Sky Blues claim an unlikely win. Chris Hughton has departed and Steve Cooper has taken the team from rock-bottom to play-off contenders in just eight months.
