Nedbank Cup Report: Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila v ... (Soccer Laduma)

GladAfrica Championship side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila rallied back from two goals down to defeat SuperSport United and secured a spot in the Nedbank Cup ...

Phillips was denied the third goal for Matsatsantsa by the crossbar a couple of minutes later from a volley at the back post and that allowed TTM back into the game as Tumi Ngwepe pulled a goal back 21 minutes before time with a sensational volley from the rebound that sailed into the top corner. Tshakhuma had the attacking momentum in the opening exchanges of extra-time, which resulted in the go-ahead goal through Tumelo Makha who latched on to a through ball by Teboho Motloung before slotting past WIlliams. Tshakhuma had the attacking momentum as the first stanza drew to a close and Rhulani Manzini came close to levelling matters with a looping free-kick from a diagonal angle that parried away from top corner and over the crossbar by Williams. That proved to be the final opening of the encounter as Tshakuma became the first side to advance to the semi-finals this weekend/ The visitors remained on the front foot and they were awarded a penalty just after the hour-mark after Ngoma was brought down in the box by Nicolas Motloung, which allowed Gamphani Lungu to double the lead from 12-yards out. Kaitano Tembo's charges had a quick start in the second stanza as Selaelo Rasebotja was unfortunate not to double their lead just from the restart with a low strike across goal in the box that came off the post. With time running out, Naeem Amoojee snatched the equaliser five minutes before time with a neat finish past Williams at the near post after a through ball by Manzini, sending the game to extra-time. Tembo made a double change just after that, as Tendamudzimu Matodzi and Sibusiso Maseko both came on for Rasebotja and Ngoma but it was TTM who nearly added a fourth when Teboho Motloung forced an out-stretched save from Williams. TTM had a bright start as Biodun Alabi had a chance to give them the lead in the ninth minute after he was allowed space on the edge box to have a shot at goal but his effort was smothered by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams. However, Matsatsantsa drew first blood in the 17th minute after Donn unleashed a volley from outside the box that arrowed into the top corner after a cross by Aubrey Ngoma. SuperSport made four changes to the side that drew with Chippa United, as they restored Keenan Phillips, Jesse Donn and Sifiso Ngobeni in the line-up while Thalente Mbatha got his second start of the campaign. GladAfrica Championship side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila rallied back from two goals down to defeat SuperSport United and secured a spot in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila rallied from two goals down to dump top flight SuperSport United out of the Nedbank Cup in extra time on Friday.

The home side returned from the break with renewed vigor and applied a lot of pressure on the Matsatsantsa defence, accumulating a succession of corners and in turn found two goals in the process. Six minutes later and Tshakhuma midfielder, Tumi Ngwepe scored the goal of the game and gave his side a lifeline in the 69th minute and made the score 2-1. - SuperSport United and Jesse Donn out to justify cup specialist tag with TTM on the horizon Lungu converted his second penalty in a week and put his side 2-0 up after Ngoma was brought down by Biodun in the penalty area after some good work weaving his way through the defence. TTM went on to complete the comeback in the 11th minute of extra time when substitute Makha latched onto a through-ball from Teboho Motloung to slot past Williams. Keenan Phillips was unfortunate not to find a third goal for Matsatsantsa on 68 minutes with a volley that struck the crossbar, which seemed to spur the Limpopo club into action as they pulled one back moments later through Ngwepe, who beat Williams with a shot from outside the area. Gershin Kock was called into action for the first time on 51 minutes to deny Ngoma after he got off a shot inside the box, but the TTM keeper was beaten again 12 minutes later from the penalty spot. Quick footwork from Ngoma inside the area drew a foul from Nicholas Motloung and Lungu made no mistake from 12 yards out to make it 2-0 for the visitors. But it was the former champions who hit the front eight minutes later when Donn collected the ball from Aubrey Ngoma and unleashed a shot into the top left corner of the net from range.
