The Sharks secured a bonus-point win from their United Rugby Championship clash against the Lions at Kings Park in Durban on Saturday.

There was a consolation try for Henco van Wyk but the reality is that the Lions were totally outplayed And the last say in the match was a Bosch penalty at the hooter. The Sharks’ second try was superb. They were in the Lions’ 22 when they earned a penalty advantage and Hendrikse nudged a kick over the defence for No 8 Phepsi Buthelezi to neatly catch and go over the line.

The Sharks put the Lions to the sword in Durban as Jaden Hendrikse, Phepsi Buthelezi and Curwin Bosch shone despite the gloomy and wet weather on Saturday.

The No 4 was teed up nicely by Jaden Hendrikse's pop pass after wing Makazole Mapimpi took the close in the first phase attack. Curwin continued putting the Lions at arm's length with an early second-half penalty as the Sharks got close again with Henco Venter, who was held up over the line. In almost a reminder of who the older sibling was, Jaden Hendrikse put on a classical performance against his brother Jordan as the Sharks beat the Lions 37-10 at Kings Park on Saturday.

The Sharks forwards put in a huge showing to set the perfect platform for their big win. In a wet weather match the kicking battle was always going to be a defining factor and it proved to be as the Sharks completely outplayed the Lions in this facet. The Sharks won the kicking, forward and gain line battles, while the Lions couldn’t come to grips with the wet weather conditions and didn’t get the rub of the green with a number of 50/50 calls going against them in the game.
