Dale College Boys' High School in Qonce in the Eastern Cape has confirmed that a learner has died following an injury he sustained in a rugby match in East.

Police say he sustained multiple injuries and they suspect he was a victim of a hit and run accident. Teyise's death follows less than a week after the death of Dale College learner, 17-year-old Lisakhanya Lwana whose body was found on the R63 between Qonce and Masingata on Sunday. The school says on its Facebook page that Liyabona Teyise sustained a head injury while playing for the first team on Saturday afternoon.

Dale college have paid tribute to Liyabona 'Sturge' Teyise, a first team rugby player who passed away this weekend after a collision.

According to Dispatch Live, it’s said that the 17-year-old had last been seen alive on Saturday, with the talented young rugby and cricket player having been reported missing after he was left at a hiking spot. Lisakhanya always evnisioned himself representing the country in both codes. There was later confirmed to be bleeding on the brain, and the youngster tragically passed away overnight.

A CAT scan conducted at the Frere Hospital where Tyesi was admitted, revealed severe bleeding in his brain.

“He later collapsed and was rushed to hospital as soon as possible. Liyabona was assisted with oxygen when he had a fit and it appeared that he had trouble breathing. The school said he lost consciousness briefly, and was later able to walk off the field by himself and was given medical attention.
