The 'iconic' traffic circle in the seaside town Umdloti, north of Durban, was washed away by heavy rain on Monday night.

The rains have caused havoc in the province. Several people have been reported missing and others dead. Most parts of KwaZulu-Natal have been hit by heavy rain which has led to widespread flooding.

This paired with years of neglect from the municipality caused the water to move the embankment. The soil is just too saturated to drain the water by now after a weekend of rain. The plan is to secure Bellamont Road and make their way to Isikulu.
