Roger has been a Disney fan since he was a kid and this interest has grown over the years. Before the launch of this show, every time I would post a story about “The Kardashians” series, it would get an incredible amount of comments, many of which highlight how many people despise the family. Most of the focus of this initial episode was on the three older sisters, though they did introduce who all the family members are, just encase this is your first time watching the show. If you enjoy the adventures of the Kardashian family, you’re going to enjoy this show. Honestly, the opening scene is just a drone flying around all of their houses and office buildings, highlighting just how important and successful the family is. While there have been many discussions about how this new series would be different from the old show, bar some slightly different graphics and a new intro, there really isn’t much difference.

We even see glimpses of Barker planning his October proposal to the eldest Kardashian sister. In the first two episodes, Khloe still seems to be debating what role Tristan Thompson should play in her life. When the two aren't glued at the hip, they're planning out how to gradually blend their families together. While Kylie was famously tight-lipped about her first pregnancy with daughter Stormi (whom she shares with rapper Travis Scott), The Kardashians sees the youngest sister proudly show off her second baby bump while at home and at work, with her family fawning over her at every moment. The series has been described as an "all-access pass" into the lives of the Kardashians, as well as a chance "to reveal the truth behind the headlines," but thus far the first two episodes mostly show us more of what we already know. But because the family is constantly in the headlines, it doesn't really feel as if we're witnessing anything new.

'The Kardashians' Showrunner Teases How Hulu Series Will ... (Variety)

'The Kardashians' showrunner Danielle King reveals what to expect on the famous family's new Hulu series.

It was a lot of texting, and it was just a lot of covert activity. Kourtney did not know that her entire family was there, so when she came up to the suite where the family was, it was a whole family affair. How will that personal matter be dealt with on the show? They’re really good about not censoring themselves, and always looking at it as a producer, not as a person who is in the show. In a world where there can be so much ugliness, in terms of people expressing hate on the internet or just the judgment that is on their lives, they have an amazing ability to rise above it and it’s refreshing. Something I knew, in a peripheral way, is how much backlash the family can get from the press and that there are people that bully, but the family has an incredible resilience. Reading about it in the news is one thing, but then you tune in, it’s like, “Oh, that’s what Kim was thinking, that’s what Khloé was thinking.” Now, I’m getting what really happened. Does the paparazzi get in the way of production? And then, when you find out that it is the Kardashians, then you look at it a bit differently.” Why do you think there is this intense interest to tune into their lives, even though the ending of the story has essentially already been given away? “I will get a text or a call from one of the family members and they’ll say, ‘Hey, this is going on. “That’s the approach that we wanted to have.”

Michelle Carter was 17 years old when she convinced her boyfriend, Conrad Henry Roy III, to commit suicide in 2014. The case made headlines everywhere as ...

She embodies the grief that Lynn Roy must have felt as she was forced to endure the reality of a parent’s worst nightmare. There are certain scenes that are dramatized, such as Carter imagining a conversation between her and Roy in the middle of the night, or when Carter is seen screaming in her room after her electronic belongings are confiscated by the police. She goes on to say how she wants the show to promote her efforts in trying to convince Massachusetts lawmakers in passing a bill that would criminalize suicide coercion. Her main goal was to represent the case in a sensitive manner that would be respectful towards the Roy family, and she accomplishes this through her heartfelt acting. The photos revealed a part of Roy for Ryan, and he felt an instant connection to the late teenager that he is able to show through his portrayal of Roy’s constant fight against the world. One scene that highlights this is in episode one where Carter mimics and practices a mournful speech from Lea Michele’s “Glee” character as she pays homage to her deceased co-star, Cory Monteith. It is a creepy scene as you watch her attempt to perfect her imitation of the monologue to practice her mourning for Conrad. From singing the song to faking the tears sliding down her cheeks, Fanning highlights the complexity of Carter’s mind in this eerie scene.

Hulu's 'The Kardashians' continues a modern saga: a family famous ... (WFDD)

If you hated this family before, The Kardashians won't change your mind. But the show humanizes them.

It remains to be seen how deeply the show will delve into Kim's increasingly contentious divorce from Kanye. Or the troubles of Kylie's partner, rapper Travis Scott, who performed during a mass casualty crowd crush event last year at the Astroworld Festival he founded. Social media is filled with theories from fans about which moments from the E! series were completely contrived but presented to viewers as genuine. The family once admitted that the exterior shots of homes used in Keeping Up with the Kardashians were not of their own houses – Kim explained the tactic kept fans from figuring out where they lived. Are they continuing the lie on Hulu, where the first episode features a stylized drone-style shot that seemingly moves through family members' homes? In other moments, various family members talk about how refreshing it was to have a break from living life in public, with no words devoted to why they jumped back in front of the cameras again, less than a year after the last series ended. Which means it also still showcases the elements of reality TV that irritate me most as a critic.
