'You created masterpieces': Celebrated fashion designer Quiteria Kekana passed away on Sunday 17 April following a short battle with cancer.

The celebrated designer, who has dressed the likes of Beyoncé and Peal Modiadie, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

Fashion designer Quiteria Kekana has died, at the age of 38. The star, who has dressed Beyonce, died at his home in Johannesburg.

It often impacts several areas of the body, including the spine, skull and ribs. ‘The costs for good health care brought a lot of financial strain on my business. ‘The family has requested privacy during this time. ‘Quiteria sadly passed away on Sunday 17 April 2022 at his Melville home. Kekana made a name in the fashion world thanks to his partnership with George Malelu – before they went their separate ways in 2019, and parted ‘on good terms’. His family confirmed the news in a statement, explaining that he died after a ‘short battle with cancer’.

The 33-year-old born in Limpopo was diagnosed with multiple myeloma following his alleged fat shaming which landed him on the trend list.

“That’s when I went to the doctor to get checked out because I had started to develop lumps on my body too during that period. Before the designer started his own label, he was part of Quiteria & George design which was made up of himself and George Malelu. The 33-year-old writer went on Twitter to air her altercations with the designer and alleged he called her a “Fatty boom boom”.

Shortly after that, the pair sadly split. They cancelled their showcase at the last minute at African Fashion International Cape Town Fashion Week in April 2019. Kekana rose to fame in 2014 when he partnered with his former friend, George Malelu, to launch Queteria & George. Together they were unstoppable, creating exquisite garments and dressing stars.
