But, like we’ve been saying for weeks now when it comes to the race for the top four, it’s the three points that matter with style points a clear second. On top of it being Bonucci’s birthday and one of the final home games in Paulo Dybala’s Juventus career, it’s potential one step closer to locking up a top four spot for Max Allegri’s squad. There’s the matter of wrapping up a top four finish as soon as possible. Or something other than hoping this team qualifies for the Champions League next season. In this case, Juve welcome the bottom dwellers of Serie A, 20th-place Venezia, to Allianz Stadium for a lunchtime kickoff affair. It is, in all likelihood, one of the last birthdays that he celebrates as a Juventus player before he hangs up his boots in a few years and begins the next phase of his life, be it involved in football or not.

Leonardo Bonucci's brace secured a 2-1 victory for Juventus over Serie A's bottom-club Venezia.

Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus) - He will have sterner tests, though Thomas Henry is certainly a capable striker who is likely to be playing top-flight football somewhere else next season, but Bonucci as always kept the Juventus defence secure during moments when Venezia overran his side in midfield. 71' GOAL FOR VENEZIA! Third time the charm! His class is clear, with his passing, running with the ball and dead-ball delivery, which set up Juventus' first goal, and he does not shirk the physical contest either.

In fact, Venezia were allowed to pick up a head of steam as the game grew, and Mattia Aramu had tested Szczesny a few times before levelling for his side. The Old Lady started the match brightly, almost scoring twice inside the opening five minutes, but there was little time to grow frustrated as we took the lead just seven minutes in when Leo Bonucci headed us ahead. It was a really tidy finish as his team-mate nodded the ball down for him to fire, but thankfully their goal did fire up our team, and we were back in front and back in control within no time.

Juventus vs Venezia Player Ratings: Bonucci Hits Twice (The Cult of Calcio)

On Sunday's early kickoff, Juventus played hosts for Venezia at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Here arer our player ratings for the Serie A round 35 fixture.

Proved to be a major threat in the air due to his strong physique, but Bonucci and de Ligt assisted one another to successfully contain him. Initiated the play that resulted in Aramu’s goal. He was the most dangerous player for the visitors, and almost scored on a couple of occasions before finally grabbing the equalizer with a splendid strike. Spread the ball with ease in midfield. The Frenchman confirmed his improvement with another good performance. Orchestrated the play for Juventus with his elegant touch and vertical long ball. Almost scored an early goal but his long-range shot crashed against the crossbar. It’s not everyday that a center back leaves the pitch with a personal brace, but the veteran Italian managed to pull it off on his 35th birthday. Provided the assist for Bonucci’s opener with a header. Could have scored a goal from point-blank range but his header went well wide. Nonetheless, he was up to the task, pulling off some brilliant saves on Aramu, but the latter left him with no chance with a stunning goal. After several threats, Mattia Aramu eventually equalized the scoring with a fabulous strike, but the Bianconeri swiftly restored their lead thanks to Bonucci again.

Juventus Player Ratings vs Venezia: 8/10 for Bonucci; Vlahovic... (The Hard Tackle)

Birthday boy Leandro Bonucci is the hero for Juventus as they see off Venezia in a game that was closer than anticipated.

The Spaniard never quite got into the groove and spent most of his time on the pitch in transition. Pellegrini was unlucky to not score on the night as his sweetly struck shot came off the crossbar. The 18-year-old made a surprise debut in Serie A and, in all honesty, gave a decent showing of his talents. The Italian winger did not look up for the game and appeared to have his attacking wings clipped. If goals were birthday candles, the 35-year-old took his Juventus goal tally to 35 on the night. Danilo was part of a back three on the night and looked uncomfortable at times. It proved third time lucky for the Venezia attacker as Szczesny was finally beaten in the second half. Juventus have now all but secured a top-four finish, while Venezia look set for the drop. Massimiliano Allegri immediately brought in Giorgio Chiellini to shore up the backline and help his side see out the game. This was his first Serie A goal since scoring in the reverse fixture last December. The home side were content to sit back and let Venezia have the ball. They struck the bar and, also had a penalty appeal waved away before Bonucci put them ahead in the seventh minute.
