A win for Ferguson keeps him in the top-10 rankings and allows him to maintain relevance in the division, but a loss will be devastating. The victory increases Brown’s win streak to three, and he now looks for a fight against a ranked opponent. Even with the setbacks, 274 is still a loaded card. Rua (27–13–1) is approaching the end of his legendary career. The pace and energy was far different in the rematch, with both men—Rua, who is now 40, and Saint Preux, who is 39—considerably more cautious. Chandler (23–7) generated so much power for that boot to the face, almost like he was kicking a field goal.

The man looks and fights like he's easily in his 30s and showed it Saturday night. I feel bad for Tony Ferguson, one of my all-time favorite fighters but he's shown in his last couple fights he's a shell of what he once was. Rose lost the first matchup and Carla took her down at will. "Khaos is a dangerous boy, man," he said after the fight. We're not seeing a ton of action and fans are letting them hear it. Can’t see the blog? “On Friday [Saturday AEST] morning, we went there [to check the weight] and it was 1 kilogram over. “Every other fighter [said] the same thing, 300 grams or 500 grams over. He felt terrible. You’re crazy.’ And we started this war [cutting weight again]. After the weigh-in chaos, there was more drama just before the card began when Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was forced to withdraw due to illness. “I didn’t really care about Carla. You know, I didn’t think she was on my level,” Namajunas said on the UFC 274 countdown show. Gaethje was scathing when asked about Oliveira’s weigh-in drama on Saturday, calling it “f***ing ridiculous” and the controversy certainly created a storm in the UFC world. And the chaos continued on Sunday as a veteran was forced to pull out on the eve of the event due to food poisoning. A star-studded UFC 274 card was rocked by staggering weigh-in drama as lightweight champion Charles Oliveira became the first-ever belt-holder to be stripped of his title due to missing weight. Two UFC championships were supposed to go on the line on Sunday but that dramatically changed when Oliveira was stripped of his belt after coming in overweight at 155.5 pounds.

But before Gaethje and Oliveira's fight, Chandler's bout against Ferguson was a thrilling affair. Gaethje entered UFC 274 having won five of his prior six matches. Although he didn't get the opportunity to properly defend his championship, Oliveira entered Saturday with momentum. Charles Oliveira faced Justin Gaethje in the main event title fight, but only the latter had a shot at claiming the belt.

Charles Oliveira entered UFC 274 fight week in Phoenix as the UFC lightweight champion and defeated Justin Gaethje in Saturday night's main event.

In the fourth, Esparza landed a pair of takedowns, the second one with authority. He’ll be installed as No. 1 contender and fight an opponent to be named later to fill the title vacancy. Oliveira scored the one that counted, however, and followed up on the mat by extending his UFC record with his 16th submission win.

Ultimately, Esparza, 34, moved to 2-0 over Namajunas -- and it's unclear whether the sport would even allow a third matchup to happen. It was a fight in which neither woman appeared to have any confidence in her skill set. A third had it for Namajunas 48-47.

The Real Winners and Losers from UFC 274 (Bleacher Report)

Of the 14 fights on the bill, a whopping 10 ended by decision. The co-main event, which saw Carla Esparza defeat Rose Namajunas to win the strawweight title, ...

The victory pushed her to 4-0 in the UFC after earning a contract with a decision win over Mariya Agapova on Dana White's Contender Series in 2019. In the penultimate bout of the UFC 274 undercard, Macy Chiasson defeated Norma Dumont by split decision in a women's featherweight bout. It's time for the promotion to take some decisive action, one way or the other. Rather than try to fix the problem, the UFC seems content to ignore the women's featherweight division entirely. The women's featherweight division, for those with short memories, was essentially created to give Cris Cyborg a place to fight. For most truly old-school MMA fans, there were only a handful of recognizable names on the UFC 274 lineup. On the other, we'd just seen Ferguson—a man who has already taken far too much damage in the Octagon—suffer the most devastating loss of his career. Of the 14 fights on the bill, a whopping 10 ended by decision. When Charles Oliveira flew to Phoenix, Arizona, for UFC 274, he was the lightweight champion. While both are excellent fighters—they wouldn't be competing for UFC gold if they weren't—neither seemed to have much interest in doing any actual fighting in the UFC 274 co-main event. The UFC commentators deserve some props for their honesty. Keep scrolling for our take on the action now that it's come to pass.
