VfB Stuttgart secured what could prove to be a big point in their fight against relegation as they held Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw.
52’- GOAL! (Sasa Kalajdzic) - The visitors have pegged Bayern back here! Outstanding from the Bayern man. Upamecano plays him in, and Muller does all the hard work with a sublime first touch to take the ball away from Ito, before placing it into the bottom corner with his left foot. It's blocked, and there's Müller who attempts a scissor-kick but it comes back against the crossbar. 8’ - GOAL! (Tiago Tomas) - What a start for Stuttgart! That could prove to be a huge goal. However, their lead did not last long as Bayern were back level in the 35th minute.
Bayern Munich stumble to a 2-2 draw with VfB Stuttgart with Robert Lewandowski drawing a blank.
Niklas Sule made his final appearance at the Allianz Arena as a Bayern Munich player. It was a bad day at the office for Robert Lewandowski. He was defended quite well by Waldemar Anton, with the Pole lacking any clear cut opportunities to score. The Frenchman wasn’t able to create too much danger on the left flank with his trickery and crosses. It was rewarded with the all-important equaliser, though the winger faded in the second half. But overall, it was an underwhelming performance from the playmaker. While his set-pieces looked dangerous, Kimmich didn’t have the desired impact on the proceedings, resulting in a lack of dominance from Bayern. Dayot Upamecano had a poor game at the heart of the Bayern backline. Leon Goretzka missed an excellent goalscoring opportunity early on in the proceedings. They were willing to fight for the team and took the game to the champions by creating a plethora of goalscoring chances and making full use of Bayern’s individual errors. Alphonso Davies looked fired up and was quick to tell off Nianzou for his mistakes. The Swabians had the opportunity to kill the tie but Philip Forster, Kalajdzic and Omar Marmoush all missed clear-cut goalscoring opportunities. Stuttgart were rewarded for their efforts when Tiago Tomas opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the game.
