WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022: Ranking and grading every match (Sportskeeda)

WWE may not have given WrestleMania Backlash the best build, but the show sure did deliver. This was one of the company's better efforts in 2022, ...

Cody Rhodes was not the runaway Match of the Night because it was that good. The two elite workers exceeded their WrestleMania match with another brilliant effort, which took pieces from it and enhanced the story. However, it does set up a potential third match inside Hell in a Cell, with Rollins having grounds to ask for a rematch. It is a testament to the entire event that Seth Rollins vs. Hopefully, this can help her kick on and enjoy a successful reign atop the SmackDown women's division following WrestleMania Backlash. From kendo stick fights on the stage to ringside brawls and even their fight in the crowd, Flair, and Rousey indeed went for each other. This was one of the company's better efforts in 2022, with no match being an outright flop. This match made up for it, with The Phenomenal One looking more vicious. Their 'I Quit' Match was supremely brutal and took place all around the arena. The former WWE Champion locked Omos in the deadly submission as well, but he got out of it. The two heavyweights slugged it out, with Reigns getting the upper hand on McIntyre by slamming him through the announce table. The future is bright for Madcap Moss in WWE, who still needs a gimmick change.

The match was hard-fought and was terrific in terms of quality of action. This was the marquee clash of WrestleMania Backlash and it didn’t fail to impress. The two elite teams were evenly matched in a hard-fought match until Roman Reigns delivered a thunderous Spear to Riddle to register a fine victory. Last night’s encounter between Flair and Rousey was a rematch of the clash between the two on Night 1 of WrestleMania 38. In the end, Omos picked up Lashley and dropped him for the pinfall to register a fine victory. The special event featured a total of four WrestleMania rematches.

If you skipped it and saw the predictable outcome of Rousey beating Flair coming, catching up on the quick results slide above was all you really needed to know. That leads to bad creative where you don't need to watch any of the television shows. With Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin, the clear side that needs more of a leg up is Moss. Beating Corbin isn't the equivalent of capturing a title, but it's a nice follow-up to his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal victory. This also avoids the problem that WWE has wherein Creative doesn't seem to know what to do with Flair if she's not holding a title or challenging for one. If it didn't happen, everything would be the same as it was after WrestleMania. It will likely also lead to Ripley becoming one of the next challengers to Bianca Belair's title to provide for a much-needed fresh feud. Repeating the same match and just doing a different outcome is cheap. Yes, Omos won this one in part to make them "even" with each other, and used MVP's help because he's a heel, so that will get you to boo him and not respect him. Styles still would have had to fight a Hall of Famer who is more decorated in accolades than entire classes combined. This checks a few positives off the list. Rhea Ripley unveiled herself and is now a member of Judgment Day.

If that’s the case, I just wanna say thank you for all these years of support.” - although he was arguably getting Rollins back for a similar manuevare attempted just moments prior. After locking in the armbar with the use of a steel chair, Rousey forced Charlotte to say “I Quit”, and won the bout to become the new SmackDown women’s champion. Styles managed to get in little bursts of attack every now and then, but the majority of the match saw Edge controlling the majority of the action. Rhodes pinned Rollins with a roll-up and a handful of tights, a disappointing finish to a great contest that will undoubtedly be remembered as the finest of the evening. The match between Rhodes and Rollins began with a lockup before a rapid succession of counters, then an increase in tempo.

WWE WrestleMania Backlash results: Rousey makes Flair 'QUIT ... (Republic World)

Ronda Rousey defeated Charlotte Flair at WWE WrestleMania Backlash while Bloodline defeated Drew McIntyre & RK-Bro in a six-man tag team match.

Six high profile superstars were inside the ring at the same time as Roman Reigns and WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos took on Drew McIntyre and WWE Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro. The match saw both teams looking to take the upper hand in the match. The final moments of the match saw all hell break loose with Reigns slamming McIntyre through the announcer's table while Orton was laid out with a Superman punch. However, MVP did play his part in the match by hitting Lashley with the cane and helping Omos apply his finishing move to win the match. Both the wrestlers took advantage of the stipulation with Flair using the chops on Ronda Rousey. Kendo stick and launching cameras were the other highlights from the match. As expected the match was among the most intense women's matches in a long time. After MVP turned his back on Bobby Lashley to join hands with Omos, the All-Mighty has been looking for revenge.

WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022: Every Match Ranked From ... (TheSportster)

WWE WrestleMania Backlash is in the books! Which match was the best on the card, and which bout was skippable?

The final flurry of the match had tons going on that had audiences hooked, and it created chaos in the best way possible. It proved to be a perfect main event, and it had the live crowd going crazy for everything that happened. It wasn't the type of match that fans will be desperate to see again, with this one feeling more like a standard television bout. Nobody was expecting a classic from these two men, and the match that they provided was likely similar to how people thought it would go down. Both men went back and forth in a competitive manner, putting on a fun mid-card match for the show. WrestleMania Backlash only had a short card in comparison to the juggernaut two-night event that took place during WrestleMania 38 weekend.

WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022 Results & Ratings (SportzWiki)

WWE WrestleMania Backlash was the first pay per view event after WrestleMania and generally this pay per view event does not deliver anything.

Previously it was said to be two different matches, One For The Tag Team Championship unification, and other one for the Universal Championship. We would not say if it was the best match of the night but it was definitely one of the best. It was the only championship match of the event and also the only stipulated match. The match was booked for 17 minutes and there was enough intensity to hook everyone to the match as long as it went on. But throughout it was a predictable match. But honestly it was not as good as most of the fans expected it would be. There were only six matches but none of the matches were really disappointing. We are not sure if most of the fans were looking forward to see this match because it was mostly a Smackdown standard match that got booked in a pay per view. About tonight’s match, it was booked for 9 minutes and it was a good match. As the referee was distracted, a hooded person attacked AJ who was on the pole position. It was booked for 21 minutes and what an amazing match it was. And it was good for Seth Rollins as well. WWE WrestleMania Backlash was the first pay per view event after WrestleMania and generally this pay per view event does not deliver anything special.

Wrestlemania Backlash Results And Review For The 2022 WWE PPV (GameSpot)

There were only six matches on the card for Backlash, with only one of them being a championship match. What stole the show, however, was Cody Rhodes vs. Seth ...

The final stretch of the match was as packed with action as it could be, culminating with Roman spearing Riddle in half for the victory. Anyway, as for this match, And I find it kind of funny, and I find it kind of sad. There's been a lot of high-octane action tonight, and with six men in the match you would normally expect that here. The match was nothing to write home about and probably went on a few minutes too long. This match is an oddity because, in theory, Madcap Moss is supposed to be the lovable babyface, but that's just not the case. So I've been enjoying this match for what it is, and when Charlotte put the mic up to Ronda and Ronda said, "Never b****," I lost my mind. It was a solid match, and an "I Quit" match that didn't get too over-the-top. As for the match itself, it's two of the best in the industry doing their thing. So the big story here is that AJ Smiles' arm is hurt and that comes into play a lot--especially when Smile is trying to put Edge into a variety of submissions. As for the match, it was fine. It was a complete surprise to see Cody get the win here, as Seth winning made more sense--to get a rubber match at the next PPV. Regardless, I don't see anything topping this match tonight. Mat: Wrestlemania did something very important: it put Chris and I in the same room for the first time in a little more than two years.

WrestleMania Backlash: Five headlines coming out of WWE show (GiveMeSport)

WWE's first Premium Live Show since WrestleMania took place last night, as WrestleMania Backlash took place from Rhode Island. The event saw Ronda Rousey…

Referencing a fan at ringside who was dressed as his favourtie former WWE Superstar, McAfee quipped that ‘The Fiend’ is here when the fan came into shot. Yet, if last night is anything to go on, Judgement Day is in for the long haul as they welcomed a new member into the fold. With Edge as the leader, there was always a fear the allegiance with Damian Priest could be shorter lived down to Edge’s lighter WWE schedule. WWE have reported that Flair suffered a fracture of the radius following the armbar that made her tap out and lose her SmackDown crown. Perhaps with the ‘grandest stage of them all’ pressure and time restraints off their backs, each match was given a little bit more time and thought and it resulted in better outings in every encounter. Not only did The Bloodline get the win, but it was The Head of the Table who put the explanation mark on his WWE status by getting the pinfall on Riddle.
