"It's just the way the B Team is set up, it allows us to slide into a Premier League game, and I can't give any more credit to the B Team staff.” The defender wrote ‘Hail Hail’ next to his name on the Bees top who signed a three-year deal at the Brentford Community Stadium after he was released by Rangers. And after an initial time spent in the youth ranks he came on for a dream top team debut in the west London club’s 3-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League at the weekend.

Thousands set for city centre party to celebrate Celtic title win (STV News)

Thousands of Celtic fans are set to take over Glasgow city centre this weekend to celebrate the club being awarded the Premiership league title.

The Facebook page, called Trophy Day Celebrations at Merchant City, said: “After the Motherwell game, gather in the Merchant City to celebrate us winning yet another League title and big Ange’s first. Around 60,000 supporters are expected to attend the Motherwell game, which is being held around two miles away from the Merchant City, at Celtic Park. The trophy will be handed to captain Callum McGregor after Saturday’s game against Motherwell at Celtic Park as long as they can avoid a monumental collapse in the last two games.

Celtic crowned Scottish Premiership champions after draw at ... (The Guardian)

Celtic have won a 10th Scottish Premiership title in 11 seasons and secured a place in the Champions League group stage.

Postecoglou, who was in warm embrace with his staff at full time, has overturned a 25-point deficit as existed at the end of last season. Rangers were easing to victory against Ross County at Ibrox but there was never any prevailing sense of Celtic being in trouble. Neither Celtic as a club nor Scottish football’s authorities do nearly enough to discourage this kind of behaviour. United’s response, via a glorious Dylan Levitt moment, created brief moments of panic in the Celtic ranks. Ange Postecoglou has made great play of the fact there are various ways to cross a finish line. As Tony Ralston crossed for Giorgios Giakoumakis to open the scoring at Tannadice, Celtic’s party was in full swing.

Following a successful debut campaign for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou that has yielded a Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup double, ...

The 23-year-old has been an instrumental part of the Hoops' double-winning season, scoring and assisting regularly as well as becoming a cult hero in Glasgow due to his skilful nature. Cultivating a reputation for his robust presence at the back this season, Celtic will be desperate to keep a hold of central defender Carter-Vickers for next term. The experienced Christopher Jullien has proven his mettle on the continent before, but he is still suffering from lasting effects of a serious injury sustained against Dundee United back in December 2020. Considering his contract expires in December 2023, Jeahze may be available for an outlay that wouldn't stretch the finances at Celtic Park by an extraordinary amount. Carter-Vickers' performances have also earned him adulation from the media, leading to a nomination for the Scottish Football Writers Player of the Year award. He has only made two appearances for Celtic in the campaign gone by, with the last being in a 2-0 victory over Motherwell in October 2021. Here are some of those the Hoops must try to persuade to stay ahead of their Champions League involvement. His struggles with fitness have been well documented, leading to criticism in some quarters from sections of the media and his former manager Neil Lennon. One other player who will surely see his time cut short at the Bhoys this summer is left-back Boli Bolingoli, who has spent time out on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir and FC Ufa in the past two seasons. Primarily a defensive midfielder by trade, Bitton has also been used as a central defender during spells at Celtic due to his comfortable nature on the ball. They all came on matchday two as they won 3-0 away to the Belgian side in Brussels. Things didn't start out so well for Postecoglou in the east end of Glasgow as he inherited a side that finished 25 points behind bitter rivals Rangers in the previous campaign.

Rangers and Hearts will meet at Hampden in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, May 21. That's also their last game of the term, having missed out on a spot in the Scottish Cup final. Celtic have now won 10 of the last 11 Scottish Premiership titles, having lost their crown to local rivals Rangers last term.

His track record up to his Celtic appointment in 2021was based on his successes in Australia and Japan. …This isn’t a club that should go years without any trophies,” Postecoglou said following the Scottish League Cup victory over Hibernian. He has more than delivered on his words. On the way to securing the championship, Postecoglou also delivered Scottish League Cup in December. His Japanese signings, especially Fuhurashi Kyogo and Yosuke Ideguchi, proved inspired as was his signing of Greek striker Georgios Giakoumakis who has grown in stature as the season has progressed. It took a 1-1 draw away to Dundee United to confirm what has seemed inevitable over the past few weeks as Ange Postecoglou guided his Celtic team to open a gap at the top that is now unassailable. “We haven’t allowed ourselves to be distracted by any noise from outside.

CELTIC clinched the Premiership title after a Giorgos Giakoumakis goal sealed a 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice.

He posted: "Congratulations to Celtic FC. Not bad for your first season, Ange. Sure it was a Grand Old Team to play for..." A litany of former Celts took to social media to congratulate the team, including club legend Kenny Dalglish. The Scotland record-holder had a classy message for Postecoglou and even quoted the Celtic Song. It caps a superb first season in Scotland for Ange Postecoglou, who delivered the crown back to Parkhead at the first time of asking.

In one of the greatest Australian coaching achievements of all time, Postecoglou – written off from the start – inherited a team in calamitous disarray and ...

Having initially been signed to a rolling 12-month contract, the club’s first order of business will now likely be to lock in Postecoglou on a longer deal – reward for his brilliant first year at Parkhead. There has already been a significant staffing arrival, with the club signing Mark Lawwell to be their new head of first-team scouting and recruitment. The club was dumped from the Champions League in July. By late September, they had lost three of their first six league games – including a 1-0 defeat to Rangers in the first Old Firm of the season – and were sitting in sixth. As a player and a manager, Postecoglou was always guided by a desire to deliver football his late father Jim would enjoy watching. But for the Australian’s very personality: his complete refusal to shirk responsibility or to blame referees, to explode in rage or make an ugly scene out of a press conference. Fans also loved his respect for the club and its history, and his unerring belief in the project at hand – and that success would follow. They also lost their first two Europa League group games, including a humiliating 4-0 thrashing at the hands of German club Bayer Leverkusen. Postecoglou’s players were struggling to implement his complex and demanding attacking strategy, and often failed to maintain the intensity he required of his charges. Postecoglou had only been handed a rolling 12-month contract by the board, hardly the most inspiring show of faith in the new manager. If the Australian had been dealt a ‘poor hand’ with his squad, equally unfortunate was the situation off the pitch. Celtic fans had already taken up arms against the board in a string of protests. The club spent over 100 days at the end of last season without a coach during a failed pursuit of now Newcastle coach Eddie Howe, with a gentleman’s agreement for him to take over apparently falling apart due to the club’s refusal to allow him full control over his backroom staff. “The reality is Celtic are taking a colossal gamble at a time when they can’t afford to be taking risks,” Sutton wrote. The squad included a host of wantaway players who had been convinced – probably mistakenly as it turns out – to stick around for one more season.

Ange Postecoglou is the perfect fit for Celtic and now has title to ... (The Guardian)

Coach's transformation of a team who had been a distant second to Rangers should lead to substantial transfer backing.

The green-and-white grip on the Scottish game is such that excitement and anger over events of a year ago look a little silly now. Rangers will cite the claiming of a league flag that matters – no Scottish club has won 10 in a row – but the overall picture serves as a reminder of which club is the country’s dominant force. In time, especially with a Champions League campaign upcoming, this could be portrayed as a lack of versatility that will cost Celtic but for now he presides over a group with complete belief in their coach. This has been a period of concerted domestic success for Glasgow’s green half, with the Premiership campaign of 2020-21 the clear exception. The manager’s status in the eyes of Celtic’s following is such that he could add Ally McCoist to his coaching staff and supporters would find a reason to nod in agreement. Celtic, from such a weak position at the point of Postecoglou’s arrival, are the champions of Scotland once more.

Fans flocked to Glasgow's east end hours after Postecoglou's side were confirmed as champions with a draw against Dundee United at Tannadice.

Postecoglou was joined by the club's current crop of heroes to toast a title success many considered unlikely at the start of the season. Postecoglou looked emotional as he soaked up the full-time scenes at Tannadice and he showed his appreciation by speaking to the crowd outside Celtic Park. There were flares and fireworks aplenty as the Celtic squad lapped up the appreciation upon completing a domestic Double, adding the league to title to their Premier Sports Cup success back in December.

Celtic title party - LIVE updates (Scottish Daily Record)

It's a 10th title in 11 eleven years for the Parkhead side as they reclaimed the league trophy.

It's another title for the Parkhead side and the party is set to roll on throughout the day. The Australian arrived in the summer with the club in disarray and an indifferent early run suggested the Parkhead faithful were going to have to wait another season for title glory. I know the work never stops, but I have given every bit of myself here and I’ll take a moment to reflect for myself on the job done. Josip Juranovic might not have been involved in recent weeks but he has been a huge player for Celtic this season and certainly made the most of the title win. The party started at Tannadice and moved on to Celtic Park as the new champions returned home and it's set to continue all through the day. It's also a first as captain for Callum McGregor and he will now lead the team back to the Champions League next term.
