Celtics injury update: Robert Williams III listed as questionable for ... (Celtics Wire)

The Boston Celtics may have to face the Milwaukee Bucks again without big man Robert Williams III, with the team listing the Texas A&M product as ...

The injury has been described by head coach Ime Udoka as a flare-up of swelling and soreness not unusual for someone who had been operated on as recently as Williams had been. But then again, Williams could also play, given he was a late scratch in Game 5, and the win-or-go-home stakes for Game 6. The Celtics also listed reserve forward Sam Hauser as a scratch for Game 6 with what is being described as a right shoulder instability episode by the team.

Bucks vs. Celtics: Don't let Jrue Holiday's stellar defense ... (CBSSports.com)

Holiday has been everything the Bucks have needed since the injury to Khris Middleton.

With Middleton out of the mix, Holiday has given Budenholzer and the Bucks exactly what they've needed to survive. Holiday once again picked on a bigger defender, using his strong off arm to bump Tatum to the ground, then tossed in a difficult floater with immaculate touch to put his team up by three. In Game 4, he somehow found Brook Lopez for a nearly impossible alley-oop to bring the Bucks within two. In five games this postseason defined as "clutch" (within five points with five minutes remaining), Holiday has averaged 2.2 points compared to Antetokounmpo's one point. After taking 14 shots per game during the regular season, Holiday is averaging over 23 attempts per game in the Celtics series. He's not afraid to put his body into the Celtics' bigger defenders, whether it's on a post-up or a drive. Holiday needs to stay aggressive offensively even if his shots aren't going in, because it helps give Antetokounmpo much-needed rest and opens things up for the role players. When the Pelicans traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks before last season, the price of two first-round picks and two pick swaps was considered excessively hefty for a player of Holiday's stature. Ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit coming out of high school in Southern California, he fell to No. 17 in the 2009 NBA Draft after a disappointing freshman season at UCLA. Holiday quickly blossomed as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers and made his first All-Star team in his fourth season. Those numbers seem paltry compared to the regular season, when Holiday averaged 18.3 points per game on sterling 50/41/76 shooting splits. Then Holiday sealed the game with a steal just before the buzzer as Boston sought a potential game-tying 3-point attempt. With two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star Khris Middleton as the primary scorers, Holiday's steady offense just added to Milwaukee's plethora of riches.

Boston Celtics vs Milwaukee Bucks 5/13/22: Starting Lineups ... (Lineups)

The Boston Celtics (2-3) face elimination against the Milwaukee Bucks (3-2) in Game 6 on Friday night. Boston blew a 14-point 4th quarter lead in a crucial.

It’s varied game to game, but the Bucks need at least two players to play above their role and impact the game. When Tatum is clicking, he is able to exploit the Bucks defense by penetrating and pulling up for a jumper or passing. Wesley Matthews has been excellent on the defensive end, especially against Tatum. If he can knock down a couple threes while bothering Tatum, it would completely change the game. With Robert Williams likely out, the Celtics need Horford and Grant Williams to lock down the interior. Al Horford has been exceptional this series, as he looks like he is in the middle of his prime. With the Celtics fighting for their lives and the Bucks fighting to advance, the defense will be absolutely elite. Boston arguably should have won both Game 3 and 5, which would make it 4-1 Celtics. Giannis is a worrisome threat to this prediction, but I believe Tatum will bounce back and shine in Game 6. Overall, he produced 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists on a 59.2 FG%. Jrue Holiday tied the game with a three right after Giannis’ shot, and he also made two defensive plays at the end to seal the game. The Bucks play tough defense, so Boston needs their players to hit isolation shots and create for others. In their two wins, Tatum is averaging 29.5 PPG and 6.5 APG on a 47.7 FG% and 40 3PT%. In their three losses, he is averaging 21.6 PPG and 4.3 APG on a 33.3 FG% and 23 3PT%. His scoring and playmaking has been the key to the Celtics success. Jayson Tatum dropped 34 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, but he had a 41.3 FG% and 18.1 3PT%. Jaylen Brown had an all-around game of 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists on an efficient 47/42/83 shooting split. Smart may have won DPOY, but Holiday showed why he is the best defensive guard in the NBA. Holiday finished with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists on a 37/57/100 shooting split.

Bucks-Celtics Game 5 was an instant classic that will define the NBA ... (SB Nation)

The Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics are each capable of winning the championship this season. Anyone invested in their second round series in the 2022 ...

If Milwaukee wins the series — heck, if Milwaukee repeats as champions — we’ll look back at this game as a true turning point. Holiday was there to greet him and steal the ball to cement the win for Milwaukee. Milwaukee gashed Boston on the offensive glass all night, and this was the one that really hurt. The Celtics could have put a major dent into the idea of this being The Giannis Era by winning Game 5. With the Celtics trailing by one and inbounding the ball with 11 seconds left, Marcus Smart received the inbounds pass and turned the corner looking for the go-ahead layup. The Celtics can certainly still win this series, and it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see them win the title. Somehow, the Bucks pulled off the comeback, with the best player on Earth finishing with 40 points and 11 rebounds in the win. But given how important it has been historically to win Game 5, it certainly feels like the Bucks are now in control. Antetokounmpo suffered a scary knee injury in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but returned for the NBA Finals, and dragged his team out of an 0-2 series hole to win the championship. With the series set to return to Milwaukee for Game 6, there’s was no denying that Wednesday night’s matchup was going to be monumental. Giannis Antetokounmpo stamped himself as the best player in the world during his run to the championship in 2021. When a series is tied 2-2 in the NBA playoffs, the team that wins Game 5 wins the series 83 percent of the time.

Will Tatum, Brown and the Celtics be able to force a Game 7?

Questions like that are what the playoffs are all about, and now it's Tatum and Brown's turn to provide an answer. This is well and truly Tatum and Brown's team, and it would be a massive disappointment if they bow out in the second round, even to the defending champions. The Celtics have already won once in Milwaukee, and are more than capable of doing so again. Tatum has established himself as one of the best players in the league, Brown is an All-Star, they're getting some of the best basketball of Al Horford's career and they have an elite defense that has been dominant at times in the playoffs. Both of those defeats were frustrating, but they felt like positive stepping stones for a young team at the time. The duo, which has been together since Tatum arrived in the 2017 draft, has already made a number of deep playoff runs together.

3 biggest heroes from Bucks' incredible Game 5 comeback vs. Celtics (ClutchPoints)

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday and Bobby Portis led the charge to grab a 3-2 series advantage in the NBA playoffs for the Bucks.

Despite not having his best shooting night, he made shots when it mattered (namely, two triples in the fourth quarter on two attempts) and gave Antetokounmpo enough scoring to keep the Bucks in it. It’s no secret that Antetokounmpo has been one of the very best players in this year’s playoffs. Portis and Holiday had their clutch moments, but it was because of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s dominance that the game was competitive until the final buzzer. Although he also had more turnovers (seven) and fouls (five) than assists (three), there’s no denying that he was the Bucks’ most important player: The Bucks, though, shot 44.8 percent from deep and dominated the glass, securing 13 more rebounds (including 12 on the offensive glass). In the fourth quarter alone, Portis recorded four offensive rebounds, helping Milwaukee record four second-chance points.

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart all had plenty to say about letting the game slip through their fingers -- and what comes next.

It is what it is, on to the next.” “We were hot,” said Smart after the game of the mood in the locker room following the loss. Boston seems to have the heart of a champion, but are also facing a team that’s been there with one of their own. “Just get ready,” explained the St. Louis native. “That’s how we lost it.” “We’ve got to be the smarter team, and do what works.

3 Celtics most to blame for Game 5 collapse vs. Bucks that puts them ... (ClutchPoints)

The Boston Celtics blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead in Game 5 against the Milwaukee Bucks, and there's blame to go around.

In the fourth quarter, Williams committed two fouls and one turnover in 6:04 of action. That play wasn’t as much on Brown as it was on Smart (and a bit of bad luck), but the Celtics star certainly didn’t have himself a fourth quarter to remember. He also committed one of Boston’s five turnovers in the quarter, which led to 10 Milwaukee points. Unfortunately, the fourth quarter was a total disaster for the Defensive Player of the Year. Smart scored zero points and missed his lone shot attempt, which was Jrue Holiday’s epic block with Boston down one in the final seconds. Instead, Boston suffered a collapse that brought back bad memories of the beginning of the season. The Boston Celtics held a 93-79 lead over the Milwaukee Bucks after a Payton Pritchard bucket with 10:16 remaining in Wednesday’s Game 5.

Boston Celtics: 3 bold predictions for Game 6 vs. Bucks in 2022 ... (ClutchPoints)

Ahead of their playoff game against the Milwaukee Bucks, it's time to release our Boston Celtics Game 6 predictions.

His 34-point performance in Game 5 wasn’t spectacular, as he failed to convert down the stretch and shot 12-29 from the field, including 2-11 from deep. If he truly locks in and bypasses inefficient shots (which, admittedly, is a tall task), the Bucks will have a brutal time guarding him. A 5×5 game is extremely tough to pull off, but Horford could be able to rack up steals and blocks because of his activity and intelligence. If he is tasked less with scoring, there’s a chance that Horford turns back the clocks again and has a masterful all-around performance. The Celtics royally botched a chance to get ahead in the series. Of course, Horford will have plenty of opportunities to post another 20-point outing, but it’s a safe bet that head coach Ime Udoka will look to get Tatum and Brown going on offense.

The Boston Celtics got a key update on Robert Williams' knee injury for Game 6 vs. the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.

Williams returned to action from the injury during the first-round matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, featuring in Game 3 and Game 4 of the four-game series. He averaged 23.3 minutes per night across three appearances against the Bucks before missing out in each of the past two games. According to Chris Forsberg, the Celtics have listed Robert Williams as questionable for Friday’s game against the Bucks as he’s still battling the knee soreness that forced him to miss both Game 4 and Game 5.

Milwaukee Bucks: Predictions Game 6 vs. Celtics 2022 Eastern ... (ClutchPoints)

Ahead of their game against the Boston Celtics, it's time to release our Milwaukee Bucks Game 6 predictions.

It will be close, but the momentum of home-court advantage and the adrenaline-rush win in Game 5 will propel Milwaukee to the victory. They have the offensive power and productivity of Antetokounmpo and the versatility of Jrue Holiday. Not to mention, Holiday “out-defensed” Marcus Smart, also known as the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year, to seal Milwaukee’s Game 5 win Wednesday night. Expect Portis to continue to ride that high through Game 6 and the rest of the Bucks’ playoff run. The Milwaukee Bucks are set to host the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series. The Bucks star will put up at least 35 points and 12 rebounds, minimizing his turnovers to three or less. He’s averaged 4.7 in the past three games, including seven turnovers in Game 5.

Austin Wang breaks down the NBA Playoffs Game 6 matchup on Friday, May 13 between the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks.

With so much at stake — and the series on the line — I expect these two exceptional defenses to shine. With both Games 4 and 5 going over the total, I expect bettors to veer toward the over. Expect Williams to be back for Game 6, as Boston tries to even up the series. Antetokounmpo continues to put up dominating performances, showing the league that perhaps he was overlooked for the MVP Award. He put up 40 points on 16-for-27 shooting in the Game 5 win. The Celtics have one last shot to even up this series. However, what stands out most is his impact on the offensive end. Middleton is still out with a left knee injury, and his presence has been sorely missed. Robert Williams III has been out the last two games. Now the Celtics are one game away from elimination. Even though he’s been dealing with this pain for a couple of months now, I don’t think he can have a repeat 30-point performance given his injury. He made one free throw, but missed the second. Boston is in a do-or-die situation.
