Despite the early pressure, Al Ahly took the lead after 30 minutes against the run of play to undo Bank Al Ahly’s hard work. The Red Devils had a slow start to the game and struggled to find their rhythm against a tenacious Bank Al Ahly side who were keen on upsetting the Cairo giants. Bank Al Ahly surprisingly had the upper hand in the first half and came close to scoring on numerous occasions with Mohamed El-Shenawy pulling off heroic saves to keep his side in the game.

MT Sports said the aim of the initiative is to develop a football programme that will have a holistic approach to developing players on and off the field. MT Sports said the programme, to be known as Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools (PMSS), seeks to produce a well-balanced “player of tomorrow”.
