Mount wins men's Chelsea Player of the Season again | Official Site ... (Chelsea FC)

For the second year running, Mason Mount has been voted the Chelsea men's team Player of the Season by Blues supporters.

He is the 12th man to win it more than once, and at just 23 it would take a brave person to bet against him adding to that tally. On another day he would have had a couple of assists and, at last, an FA Cup winners’ medal to his name. He remained one of the first names on Tuchel's team sheet as we started strongly in league and cup, although he did have to wait a little while to find the net. Mount played 53 games in all, and in his first, the UEFA Super Cup victory over Villarreal, lifted a trophy. Mount was deployed in central midfield for a handful of matches but has mostly been used in the front three by Thomas Tuchel, and his numbers this season underline his effectiveness in that role. He was presented with his trophy after the game against Watford today.

The teenager joined our youth system from Fulham as an Under-13 and has progressed impressively through the age groups, playing in various positions on the left and in attacking midfield. Thank you for everyone’s support throughout the season and hopefully next season can be even better.’ Harvey Vale has been named the 2021/22 Academy Player of the Season following a strong year during which he has been involved across all age groups and made his senior debut against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.

Meanwhile, among the youth, it’s Harvey Vale who wins the Chelsea Academy Player of the Year award, which is chosen by the coaching and management staff. I figured Thiago Silva would’ve been the favorite for this award — and apparently he was “close” — but Mount’s certainly a deserving candidate as well. And so, after the last-gasp 2-1 win over Watford, captain César Azpilicueta took the mic to announce that Mason Mount has been voted Chelsea Player of the Season for 2022, just like he was last year.
