The EFF said in a press conference on Tuesday that the interests of justice could not be served if a police investigation was conducted with Ramaphosa in office as President, due to the prospect of interference. There is no evidence currently publicly available either to confirm or disprove that notion, and Fraser appears not to have presented any to the police at this point. It is Fraser’s (again uncorroborated) contention that all of Rhoode’s actions after the robbery were carried out not just with the full knowledge of Ramaphosa, but on his direct orders. I belong to a community and it was one of those moments when I was blind-sighted.” While there are many questionable aspects of this story, one thing that is well established is Ramaphosa’s involvement in the wildlife trade. Back to what Magwenya told News24: “During this particular time, the transactions were not necessarily from an auction, it was just a transaction that took place at the farm. It said: “President Ramaphosa reported the incident to the head of the Presidential Protection Unit of the South African Police Service [Rhoode] for investigation”. “The amount involved is far less than the amount which has been reported in the press. The most significant corroboration given to Fraser’s claims at this stage has come from an amaBhungane investigation that supported a number of key aspects. Regardless of Fraser’s motives in releasing the information, there are strong indications that Ramaphosa does, nevertheless, have a case to answer. That Ramaphosa bungled the handling of Fraser is clear. He further claims that the employee not only received one of the R150,000 pay-offs but also was ultimately reinstated in her job after some patriarchal man-talk between Ramaphosa and her father.

Between 2014 and 2017, Ramaphosa’s last parliamentary declaration, the value of the estate went from R50,311,251 to R120,735,000, according to declarations. That’s when Ramaphosa resigned, as he must according to Section 87 of the Constitution, following his election as President in February 2018. The opposition is set to seize the opportunities on Thursday when the two-day parliamentary session on the Presidency Budget vote kicks off. What Ramaphosa does in his Friday reply will be crucial for his presidency of both party and state. And to no small extent it’s because of presidential fudginess. In the 2019/20 SAPS annual report, the forex robbery at the presidential Limpopo farm was just MIA. I’m in the game (farming) business,” Ramaphosa told the ANC conference delegates on Sunday. A parliamentary reply in late 2021 showed R8.39-million was spent between 1 April to 30 September 2020 to accommodate the bodyguards of Deputy President David “DD” Mabuza in Mpumalanga. Whether then police boss Khehla Sitole was ever told or otherwise knew, would indicate the lack of policy transparency and accountability. And while he’s on public record that the amount involved was much less than the reported $4-million claimed by Fraser, no numbers are given.] The situation was rectified by means of in-service training.” Parliament uses annual reports for its Budget oversight — and may amend or refuse a Budget vote, even if lawmakers have not ever used their powers like that.

ATM summons Cyril Ramaphosa before Parliament to answer on ... (Independent Online)

Pressure mounts for President Cyril Ramaphosa to answer questions about the robbery in his farm where millions were allegedly stolen.

He said as the president is required, by law, to appear before Parliament every quarter and he has not done so this quarter, the ATM was requesting and appealing that Mapisa-Nqakula finds a suitable date before 15 June, the last sitting of the current quarter, for Ramaphosa to take Parliament and South Africans into his confidence and explain “the matters alluded to by Mr Fraser”. In his letter to Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, ATM President Vuyo Zungula said that it was even more concerning that Ramaphosa did not deem it appropriate to report the matter to a specified officer of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) as required by the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act. Durban - The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has called on the Speaker of Parliament to find a date before the June 15, for President Cyril Ramaphosa to take the country into his confidence and explain the robbery of $4 million (R61m) at his Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo.
