RAHEEM STERLING was pictured on a zipwire while visiting his birthplace Jamaica this week. And his gradual slide downwards from the very top reflects h.

Yet filling the boots of Sterling will be a tall order for the £14m ace. He came off the bench then to spark City’s comeback. That proved to be a shrewd move, as Sterling was back on the bench for both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. But since Sterling was dropped in the aftermath of a Manchester derby defeat at the Etihad in March last year, it looked like this would be the end game. He’s been a key player.” The only trophy which eluded Sterling at City was the Champions League — and it was Chelsea who denied him that in the 2021 final.

Raheem Sterling to Chelsea: The first true Thomas Tuchel signing ... (The Independent)

A winner with a proven track record of scoring goals, Sterling could prove to be the player Romelu Lukaku was supposed to be a year ago at a fraction of the ...

Now, in Sterling, they have a forward with the track record of getting the goals to position a club there. He was supposed to take Chelsea to the top of the league. In particular, he is the specialist at getting into scoring positions: he is not guaranteed to be clinical, but he pops up in the penalty box. The ideal third man to accompany selfless figures has to be more of a scorer than a supplier. If Lukaku was supposed to be Tuchel’s flagship buy, an uneasy relationship cast doubt on the German’s role in his arrival the increasingly cliched description of the Belgian last summer – the final piece in the jigsaw – looks more applicable to Sterling; at least as far as the forward line is concerned. And if it was scarcely the wittiest of chants, it felt one of the more meaningful.

Chelsea choosing well with move for Raheem Sterling rather than ... (The Guardian)

Raheem Sterling agreeing to move to Chelsea has gone down well in the Stamford Bridge dressing room, and no wonder – it makes sense for everyone involved.

The impression is that these are players suited to playing for Tuchel, who is all about the collective. For Chelsea, it has to be the way forward. For Boehly, this is a moment to forget about the commercial aspect and think about the team. Top strikers are thin on the ground and Tuchel, who has pondered a switch from 3-4-3 to 4-3-3, needs versatility. Chelsea’s head coach has also given much thought to signing a winger who can tie a full-back in knots. With Mason Mount the only Chelsea player who hit double figures in the league last season, questions have to be asked about Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz. Other than Havertz, who goes through spells when he appears to be on course to become one of the best players in the world, none have come close to justifying their expensive fees.

Todd Boehly's next Chelsea transfer priority after £45m Raheem ... (Football.London)

Thomas Tuchel was hoping for a rebuild at Chelsea this summer and Raheem Sterling's transfer could be the start.

The American owner was not forthcoming when questioned over his reason for arriving but with Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso of interest to the La Liga side, and Frenkie de Jong potentially set for a departure, there could be plenty to discuss. Chelsea have an agreement in place with Leeds United for £55 million, with progress slowed due to the Brazilian's preference for a move to Barcelona. With days until Tuchel and co find themselves across the Atlantic, that may not be possible but there remain irons in the fire.

So, I think it can be a good signing if he can help Chelsea, and at the same time, I think in that position, Chelsea didn't have really that player who make the difference last season." It will be great as well for Chelsea because we know the quality of Sterling. So, it seems like it's just a matter of time until Sterling to Chelsea is announced and confirmed by the club.

Pep Guardiola's ultimate XI as outgoing Raheem Sterling takes No.1 ... (Mirror.co.uk)

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has managed for over a decade, coaching some of the most successful teams, and the Spaniard's most-capped XI is nothing ...

A key part of Messi's development, Guardiola had a massive impact on the Argentine as he began to dominate European football with a vast number of goals and assists. Having returned to Barcelona from Manchester United in the same summer Guardiola was installed as boss (2008), Pique has become part of the furniture at the Nou Camp and is still there today. He has partnered the likes of Nicolas Otamendi, Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte during his time at City. Having arrived in the same transfer window as Ederson, Walker would go on to help revolutionise the City back four with his technical ability and athleticism on the right side. In what will be a recurring theme in this side, Ederson was a key part of the City team that won four Premier League titles in five seasons, with the Brazilian impressing following his move from Benfica in 2017. The 51-year-old has picked up no less than 10 top-flight league titles in Spain, Germany and England, while also guiding Barcelona to two Champions League crowns.

Chelsea transfer news: Raheem Sterling's Chelsea kit number remains unclear, with a number of options currently available.

Kante isn't one to cause issues within the club, and in a surprise move, football.london believes that conversations have taken place within Chelsea, hinting the France international might relinquish his number to Sterling. He wore it for all of his seven years in Manchester, and although that is currently taken by N'Golo Kante, he may be prepared to give it up. Neither of those are currently available at Chelsea, with Malang Sarr occupying the former, and Timo Werner the latter. At Chelsea, many fans will be desperate for the incoming Raheem Sterling to avoid the club's No. 9 top. Including "x player will get to wear the famous No. 9 shirt" in a professional contract, or even with the fact acting as a gentleman's agreement, seems trivial. Yet, it is something that seemingly still happens.

Chelsea are close to completing a move for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling after agreeing personal terms with the star.

Chelsea are set to agree a fee with the Premier League champions, which would now all but seal one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer. Barring any unexpected stumbles, Sterling will link up with Chelsea once the move is completed and should feature on their pre-season tour to the United States. Tuchel also hopes to sign defender Nathan Ake, although optimism in West London about the deal doesn't marry with the stance at the Etihad that a bid of at least £50m will be required as well as having a replacement lined up. However, as previously reported by MEN Sport Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has been negotiating privately over a price for Sterling with Txiki Begiristain and the City recruitment team to ensure that the first bid offered — to be in excess of the £45million City got from Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus — is accepted.

Central midfield is also an issue for Chelsea, with N’Golo Kanté and Jorginho out of contract next summer. They agreed £55m fee with Leeds for Raphinha last week, only for the Brazil winger to indicate that his preference is to join Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether Barça, who have been engulfed by a major financial crisis, can agree a fee. The La Liga club remain in talks with Ousmane Dembélé over a contract extension. Robert Lewandowski is a potential target but the prolific Bayern Munich striker remains set on joining Barcelona. However Sterling has not been a regular starter for Pep Guardiola’s side in the biggest games over the past two years and he wants to leave City, who have sold Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal for £45m, to play more regularly. The deal would be a major boost for Thomas Tuchel, who has held constructive talks with Sterling about where he plans to use him.
