Erik ten Hag at Manchester United: How much time will new ... (Sky Sports)

Erik ten Hag will need time to implement his ideas at Manchester United but what does success look like for the Dutchman at Old Trafford this season?

That helps to explain why the Spain international goalkeeper has a lowly passing accuracy of just 61.6 per cent in his Premier League career. One obvious shift that could emerge is in how United attempt to build from the back. Only Guardiola's Manchester City had more possession than Ten Hag's Ajax of any team in the top seven domestic leagues in Europe last season. Expect the opposition passes allowed per defensive action metric to reveal a change. That was more than in any Premier League game of the previous season. It is destined to dominate the discourse with Ten Hag. How much of it will be needed? But they also had 76.9 per cent of the possession in that match. Taking back control of the football might be a start. In that first match against Tottenham in November 2015, ostensibly a dull 0-0 draw, Liverpool became the first team that season to outrun Spurs, clocking season-high sprint stats. But even then, it was easy to see the team was being transformed. As Neville suggests, with two teams operating at such a high level right now, the Premier League would appear out of reach even if the new United manager gets everything right. Perhaps it was the 4-0 defeat to Everton in January 2017 when his team looked beaten, bullied and broken at Goodison Park. That left them fifth in the Premier League table after 21 games.

Were he to continue at Camp Nou, though, De Jong would have to take a significant pay cut to help the club balance the books which is something that Mundo Deportivo say the player and his agent are not contemplating.

Why transfer talk has changed dramatically (Manchester United)

ManUtd.com reporter Adam Marshall at Old Trafford. by. Adam Marshall. Tuesday 12 July 2022 03:00.

For me, I must admit I am equally excited to see if any youngsters can break through, so it is perhaps a case of always being enchanted by the idea of new personnel making their mark in the side. A few years later, I worked for ClubCall and, although an official telephone-line company, we were allowed to cover speculation and any reports as such in order to compete with the rival service of TeamTalk, which always led on speculation and was very successful. The longer the Reds' struggles in front of goal continued in 1992, the more apparent it was that Alex Ferguson needed to sign a striker. The gist was Gary Pallister was signing (unusually all of the bids for him were being reported) but Paul Ince wasn't because he had failed a medical. Growing up, there was a transfer deadline towards the end of the season but moves could happen at any point. I must admit I have always held a fascination in the transfer market, ever since I was a little kid.

Five things spotted in Liverpool vs Man United as Fábio Carvalho ... (Liverpool.com)

Liverpool lost 4-0 to Manchester United in the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand. Darwin Núñez and Fábio Carvalho made their debuts and this is what we ...

The main thing was their fitness was increased as they continue to ease into pre-season. Liverpool had been on top, all things considered, for most of the first 30 minutes, but found themselves well out of sight. Interestingly, he was playing on the right side of a front three rather than in midfield. The Uruguayan was taking up some excellent positions and forced a good save after bringing the ball down nicely at the back post. Núñez is a completely different weapon for Klopp to use in the next few months. Fábio Carvalho, playing on the left side of a midfield three, was hugely exciting.

Manchester United vs. Liverpool - Football Match Report - July 12 ... (ESPN)

Ten Hag picked a vastly more experienced team than Jurgen Klopp and it paid off with United racing into a 3-0 lead after barely half an hour thanks to goals ...

Fred made it 2-0 on 30 minutes with a wonderful clipped finish which sailed over Alisson before Martial -- back at the club after a loan spell at Sevilla -- robbed Rhys Williams on the sideline to race towards Alisson and score for United for the first time since October. Klopp waited until the final 30 minutes to throw on his big hitters including Virgil van Dijk, Thiago, Mohamed Salah and new £85 million striker Darwin Nunez and although Nunez forced De Gea's replacement, Tom Heaton, into a good save it was United who scored again on 77 minutes when Pellistri finished off a slick counter-attack started off by a surging run from Eric Bailly. BANGKOK, Thailand -- Erik ten Hag got off to a dream start as Manchester United manager by kicking off the summer tour of Thailand and Australia with a comfortable 4-0 win over Liverpool.

Things we learned from Man United v Liverpool (Manchester United)

Manchester United made a stunning start to life under Erik ten Hag with a 4-0 victory over arch-rivals Liverpool to lift the Bangkok Centenary Cup.

The only worry was when he appeared to sustain a problem after coming to the edge of the box and turning sharply to ensure he kept the ball in the area. Eric Bailly was outstanding as the Reds held Jurgen Klopp's men at bay, showing athleticism and aggression and a determination to defend. Whether that was probably down to personnel, with skipper Harry Maguire unavailable due to a knock, is another matter but it showed some versatility from the South American. The left-back slot in the second half went to new boy Tyrell Malacia, who made a couple of eye-catching early interventions, including chopping the ball on a run that was appreciated by the crowd. Three goals without reply in the first half was a testament to the fitness work at Carrington and in Thailand, with a real desire to press from the front. Savage kept the ball tidily, helping to screen the defence, while Iqbal's balance and movement impressed. It is on to Melbourne next, with more challenges to come. The third, from Martial, was the Frenchman at his best, displaying great composure to lift over the Liverpool keeper, when in a one-on-one situation. One crunching aerial challenge on James Milner left the former England midfielder requiring some attention and the veteran avenged the tackle with a blatant block on the United man soon afterwards. The keeper looked assured in possession, and kept a clean sheet during his time on the field, as the only Red to stay on for the start of the second half. David De Gea was off his line sweeping up confidently on occasion, and was quickly in action, making a near-post save with his feet that has become one of his trademarks. Our first look at the new home shirt was certainly a positive one as Ten Hag's XI looked fit, fresh and with something to prove. There is clearly no such thing as a friendly in Scott McTominay's book, especially when Liverpool are providing the opposition.
