The series is part of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. New Zealand are currently fifth with 80 points from eight matches, while Ireland are ninth with 68 points from 20 matches. They first met in 2007, during the World Cup. And they have done well so far to test New Zealand in the first two ODIs. Now, Ireland will eye a morale-boosting win against the Kiwis when the two teams meet in the third and final ODI at The Village, Dublin on Friday. The IRE vs NZ, 3rd ODI will be telecast live. For the hosts, Harry Tector and George Dockrell have played eye-catching knocks, but the Andrew Balbirnie-led side will need contributions from other batters to challenge a far superior side. The same goes for their bowlers. The 31-year-old then followed his 127 not out off 82 with another unbeaten knock, 42 off 40 in another tense chase.

The ball falls short of long on and a single is taken. Tells that the extended break has helped him and says that it is always nice to contribute and says that to get a victory in the end, it feels good. The decision is taken upstairs and the replays show that Craig Young is well short of his crease. Young pulls it towards deep mid-wicket and Glenn Phillips runs to his right and dives to take the catch. The throw is a weak one and it comes to the keeper's end but the batter still seems to be short. The fielder there fumbles a bit but manages to throw the ball back in time to keep it to just a single. Mentions that it is a proud moment to don the New Zealand jersey and to win the player of the series award is special. This is bowled from 'round the wicket and it is slower and into the pitch, wide of off stump. He says that it has been an exciting series and it has been a great spectacle for the crowd. Talks about his good record as a captain and says that all credit to the boys for the way they played and he is very happy for the team. Michael Bracewell is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES for his brilliant contribution with both bat and ball. Andy Balbirnie, the captain of Ireland says that it is disappointing but he is proud of the way they have played.

“They’ve learnt a lot because it was pretty brutal out there, the conditions, it was swirling everywhere and for a young side to be able to manage their way through a game when things aren’t going right the whole time, I thought was tremendous. “I was more pleased with the team performance (than individuals) because the obvious thing to learn from the first game was that some lads were pretty desperate to show everything they’ve got and they (now) understand that it’s always got to be team first and not just disciplined with the referee but disciplined in how we play the game. The All Blacks crusied to victory in the opening game two weeks ago in Auckland, but Ireland made history by becoming the first ever Irish side to win on New Zealand soil.

Remember, Tuivasa-Sheck is 29 which means next year in France might be his one and only shot at a global tournament, so if the All Blacks really believe he could be an asset in France the centre needs plenty of game time. One key difference from the last week to this is that the legendary second-row has recovered from a head injury to take his place in the XV. Whitelock was key to their first Test triumph, consistently disrupting Ireland’s lineout ball and denying them try-scoring opportunities in good areas. The All Blacks had one player sent off and probably should have had another, so it will be interesting to see whether they adapt.

New Zealand seal last-ball thriller despite Stirling, Tector tons (ESPNcricinfo.com)

Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls set Ireland a daunting 361, and they came agonisingly close.

Since his 57against Netherlands at homein March, Nicholls had managed just 104 runs in eight innings across formats at an average of 13.00, until Friday. Along the way, he had had to deal with a bout of Covid-19 and a calf injury. Stirling brought up his 13th ODI ton and his 150-run stand with Tector via a carved four off Bracewell. He turned up the tempo two overs later when he dashed out of the crease and mowed Michael Bracewell over the long-on boundary for the first of his five sixes. He was responsible for the wickets of Delany, Tector and Lorcan Tuckner. After hitting a hard length to draw a return catch from Curtis Campher, Tickner then smartly kept the ball away from the swinging arcs of Ireland's lower order in the last over. Young, however, panicked under pressure and ran himself out while trying to scramble a second run next ball, leaving Ireland with four to get off the last two balls, with No.11 Josh Little on strike. With Ireland needing 10 off the last over, Blair Tickner, New Zealand's least experienced seamer and their most expensive bowler on tour, closed out a one-run victory as New Zealand broke Irish hearts once again.

It’s claimed in the lineout, the drive is set up and walks over the line for Van Der Flier to flop over and open the scoring. New Zealand fitful and a little disjointed, but with enough dog in their scramble defence and pizazz in broken play or on counter to frustrate and indeed take the game. Ireland busy and creative, making enough dents up front and with territorial kicking to make the All Blacks reel a bit. Sexton spurns a kickable penalty to put the ball in the corner. Bundee Aki and Andrew Porter are both untidy at the ruck and are ruled to be off feet. Finally, the ball is out and NZ are taking narrow carries up via the forwards sticking close to the ruck. Ireland are deliberately not committing too many player to the breakdown, and they stand so far off one the All Blacks end up knocking on due to their own momentum not being stopped. This allows Keenan to put a testing kick on Jordan who takes it but is stopped dead by the chasing Hansen and on the next possession Tu’ungafasi knocks on. Possession is not very secure however and as NZ get it back David Havili punts a 50:22 and the All Blacks will have an go in the Irish 22. “This is so good” says ORMBarnes, “I had a really bad sleepless night and thought, shall I stay in bed and watch the replay later? Aki was superb after coming off the bench and he'll be looking to replicate that performance. New Zealand coach Ian Foster has made four changes from last Saturday, with the forwards Nepo Laulala and Sam Whitelock coming back into the fold, who should be a big boost with their vast experience. says Andy Farrell, and it's hard not to agree with him after the win in Dunedin. This is going to be some spectacle. A poor miss and one which perhaps indicates All Black nerves. A narrow escape for Ireland. Lowe is unfortunate that his huge boot isn't deemed a 50-22 but it doesn't matter, off the next maul Ireland get the turnover and are back in possession for the scrum. It doesn't matter though as Johnny Sexton gives up a penalty for not rolling away at the breakdown. New Zealand look rattled and again their discipline, or lack of it, is letting them down. Ireland get the scrum and kick it out to end the half. Well, well, well, New Zealand can't even get the lineout straight. An incredible half of rugby from Ireland. Every player in green has stood up and out performed their opposite number.

I think Barnes has gone from being one of the worst refs 5 years ago to the best in the game now. Irl pressure is just too much and defensively AB all over the place. Ciarán Kennedy here to bring you all the action as it happens. There’s one further change on the bench as Aidan Ross, the prop, is replaced by Karl Tu’inukuafe. Barrett is replaced by Akira Ioane and Tupou Vaa’i comes onto the bench. It all started with that brilliant turnover from Van der Flier at the other end of the pitch. It’s his eighth try for Ireland. Johnny Sexton drags the conversion wide, but that’s a brilliant start by Andy Farrell’s side. They go in search of an early try, working their way through over 20 phases in the Ireland 22, but Ireland’s defence is excellent. Once again, Ireland make a flying start against the All Blacks. After enjoying all the early territory, Ireland go the corner, win their own ball at the lineout and their maul proves too powerful for the hosts, with Josh van der Flier the man who dots down. New Zealand go again and Ardie Savea powers over.

The All Blacks have suffered another defeat at the hands of Ireland. Who stood out for NZ in the defeat?

On in 62nd minute. On in 62nd minute. Off in 62nd minute. Off in 64th minute. Off in 70th minute. Some good work under the high ball early doors retained possession for the All Blacks – and Barrett was given the opportunity to kick a penalty goal seconds later, but couldn’t find his target. Knocked the ball on at the base of the ruck when the All Blacks were building their first real set of phases earlier in the game. Pinged once for rushing up before the ball was out of the breakdown. Got his running game going in the second 40, which is a relatively rare sight for the elder statesman. Struggled to assert himself in the first 40 but one of a number of All Blacks forwards whose carrying game came to life in the second half, especially in the period immediately following halftime. That doesn’t all come down to the hooker, of course, but with nothing else going superbly, it didn’t help. While the All Blacks had the better of the second spell, scoring three tries to Ireland’s one, it wasn’t enough to fight back from such a sizeable disadvantage, and Ireland claimed another historic win.
