South Africa v Wales live: Score and latest updates from the final Test (Telegraph.co.uk)

Lineout for the Welsh after the Springboks threatened to score on the counter. Hardy boots out to end the half. 4:59PM ...

South Africa spread towards the centre - there is a penalty advantage - it comes back to the left and Pollard tries to tap it through. He overtakes former Wales fly-half and current national squad attack coach Stephen Jones. Wales work it back to the middle, Liam Williams and Rees-Zammit working together. Try not given. Two knock-ons, and it's a Wales scrum, 10 yards into their half. Extremely good play from the Welsh. Rapid and dynamic. South Africa come forward again. Hardy manages to boot away, and Wales maintain possession. SA with a deep, deep lineout on the right with three minutes of the half to go. A perfectly worked maul from the Springboks. Crucial for South African momentum into the break. South Africa drive down the right. Mbonambi's try on almost the stroke of half time is the difference.

South Africa v Wales live (WalesOnline)

The Springboks v Wales Test series comes down to the decider: Updates and all the news from Cape Town.

"We pointed out from the outset of the series that Wales will be desperate - and they showed that in the last two weeks. It is difficult to compare, apples and pears, but in the same breath it’s all intertwined because they sacrifice a lot for what you do as well.” Now it is a matter of going out there and doing the game justice.” This will be the 40th Test match between the two countries, with South Africa having won 31 of them, amid seven Welsh victories and a draw. It is not just that moment in time, it’s what you have worked for as a kid, with all those sessions you have done that nobody has seen. “It does hurt, I am not going to lie,” said the 34-year-old, who made 18 tackles during last weekend’s victory in Bloemfontein. “That is what I have been picked for over the years, to try and be physical. I have been sore for a few days after that Test last weekend but if we had lost, I would have been a lot more sore. I am probably going to have to go a lot harder again this weekend because they will be seething after that loss. Wales have been forced into a late change with last weekend's match-winner Gareth Anscombe withdrawing from the third Test series decider. We have got ourselves in this opportunity now, so we are just after a big 80 minutes to try and capitalise and finish off on a pretty positive tour. We look back on the first Test and we threw that one away, let’s be honest. There has been another late change to the Wales line-up, with No 8 Taulupe Faletau ruled out.

South Africa v Wales LIVE rugby: Result and reaction as Springboks ... (The Independent)

Latest updates from Cape Town as Wales take on the Springboks in the series decider.

To fight back and get back and play in the Welsh jersey is a huge thing for me. The first penalty comes at the maul, before Malcolm Marx carries punchily, and then again, forcing Dan Biggar to dart offside to prevent Faf de Klerk using quick ball. Much more like it from South Africa, leaning on their dominant forwards and eventually powering to victory. Still, loads of positives to take for Wales, who began the series as real outsiders but have been fully in every game. “You always know when you play South Africa it is going to be physical. That is the next level, that retention of the ball.

South Africa overpower Wales to win series - Rugby World (Rugby World)

South Africa overpower Wales to win the third Test 30-14 in Cape Town. The result means that Siya Kolisi's side take the series 2-1.

Twice they were denied by the TMO – Makazole Mapimpi had a foot in touch before he crossed and Damian de Allende grounded the ball just short of the line. Then just before kick-off Taulupe Faletau was withdrawn from the starting XV meaning Josh Navidi came in at No 8 and Taine Basham joined the replacements. Wales had to deal with a fair bit of disruption on match day. The physicality was always bruising and at times brutal, with the Welsh players no doubt looking forward to a few weeks off after a long, tiring season. Dan Biggar added a penalty to reduce South Africa’s lead to two going into the final minutes of the half, but the hosts had the final say. In reality, there are positives for both teams to take.

South Africa started superbly, dominating possession as they camped in the Wales half and fly-half Handre Pollard slotted a fifth-minute penalty from close range to open the scoring.

Powerful Springboks secure series win over gutsy Wales (Daily Maverick)

The Springboks deservedly wrapped up the series against Wales with a convincing 30-14 win in the decider in Cape Town on Saturday.

They regained control and found space on both flanks as they stretched the Boks’ defence. With the amount of quality, quick ball the Boks enjoyed inside Wales’ 22-metre area, they should have added several more tries. And behind them scrumhalf Jaden Hendrikse produced quick service with clear decision-making that gave the Boks momentum from ruck ball. Hooker Bongi Mbonambi, playing his 50th Test, scored as he broke away from a maul close to the line just before halftime. Centre Damian de Allende also could not grass the ball on the tryline, coming up a few centimetres short. Only their own untidy finishing stopped the match from becoming a complete rout.

A late replacement for Faletau, Navidi was solid at the back of the scrum. The Springbok maul is difficult to stop, but Beard generally did a good job. Didn’t kick quite as brilliantly as the last two weeks, but a good performance. Was rightfully substituted to give the brilliant Lake a full half. It may only be Reffell’s third cap, but it feels like his first try has been a long time coming. Somehow he appears to be getting better with every game, looking comfortable ruffling a few Springbok feathers. Made two huge breaks in the lead-up to Reffell’s try and was rock solid in defence. Gave away a lot of penalties. Made two huge errors in running the ball from his own line and over-folding for Kolisi’s try. Chased kicks well and made a few huge hits. Dropped his first high ball but soon atoned for his error with a few good takes. Excellent in the midfield today.

Wales dream dashed as South Africa rediscover form in Cape Town ... (The Guardian)

Biggar kicked a penalty seven minutes before half-time, but South Africa then struck from a close-range lineout, driving Wales defenders backwards before Mbonambi touched down to mark his 50th cap in style. The Springboks’ head coach, Jacques Nienaber, recalled eight of South Africa’s 2019 World Cup-winning team after Wales levelled the series with a historic first away win over South Africa seven days ago. Wales’ penalty count quickly mounted up, conceding eight in the first 25 minutes, yet South Africa only held a 10-5 lead, which seemed scant reward for their territorial dominance.

Springboks 'could have scored 50' - what the South African media ... (WalesOnline)

South Africa claimed a series victory with a 30-14 victory over Wayne Pivac's men in Cape Town.

The Welsh were as resilient as they always are but the world champion Springboks brought the right mix to their game as they powered to a 30-14 win. Despite the result, Wales have exceeded expectations in South Africa. The soft underbelly which was present during an extremely poor Six Nations campaign appears to be gone, which has made them difficult to beat again. There is certainly still work to be done, and there were moments of defensive lapses and some questionable decision-making with ball in hand, but the Springboks relied on true grit on this warm Cape Town night in front of an electric crowd. The Springbok gave Eben Etzebeth and Bongi Mbonambi a memorable day on their respective milestones. Wales, unsurprisingly, were out on their feet. Ultimately, their aspirations were snuffed out by trademark Springbok power.
