Tottenham manager Antonio Conte may have unearthed a new right wing-back option after Lucas Moura impressed in the unfamiliar position against Sevilla.

Lucas is a player who loves to dribble with the ball at high speed. But Moura also used his speed to good effect by pressing at opportune moments, while he made a vital defensive header to clear the danger after a deep cross. But the former Paris Saint-Germain flyer is an excellent squad player and Conte will be keen to keep him happy.

But when not pleasing Spurs fans and ripping up the Premier League with his unrelenting technique and eye for goal, Son is also flying the flag for South Korea, ...

An institution founded on unique principles, unrelenting dedication and a seriously high level of discipline, the Son Academy is fascinating to say the least. It’s absurd, but it’s also been carefully designed to ensure that the select youngsters in the Son Academy are conditioned to have the best chance at carving out professional careers. It’s an institution like no other, and goes against what many of us consider the beautiful game, but you have to admire the thought process behind it. There are also plans to build a car park, coffee shop and even a Son Heung-min museum. So, no shooting at all and no team play, until the age of 15. And, eventually, you get to a level of two-footedness.”

The Business Behind Tottenham Hotspur's Pre-Season Korean Tour (Forbes)

Tottenham Hotspur started their pre-season with a tour of South Korea packed with media appearances, grueling training sessions, and Korean barbecue.

Spurs’ principal sponsor AIA has also been using the tour to make headways into the Korean market, including showcasing an artificial intelligence version of Son Heung-min, known as “AI Sonny” who can share personalized messages with AIA’s Korean customers. In 2012, a pre-season match in Shanghai helped land Manchester United a world-record sponsorship deal with Chevrolet, who were reportedly blown away by United’s popularity in China. As well as their two games in Korea, Spurs’ schedule has been jam-packed with open training sessions, press conferences and media appearances. When Tottenham’s players arrived in Korea, they were met at the airport by Son Heung-min, who had stayed in the country following his games with the national team last month. A nice spin on the ball by Son led to Harry Kane’s opener early in the second half before Ivan Rakitic levelled the score for Sevilla with a strike from just outside the penalty area. Son and Kane both grabbed two goals in Tottenham’s first match — an action-packed win against Team K League. Conte deliberately waited until two minutes into the second half to bring Son on so that he could be cheered onto the pitch by the local fans.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Sevilla: honors even in hard-fought friendly (Cartilage Free Captain)

Tottenham Hotspur's first preseason friendly in Korea was an exciting affair with goals galore, a 6-3 win for Spurs against a team of K-League all-stars.

A good warm-up against a side that likes to press, a taste of what they’ll likely see against the better teams in the Premier League. He had the turnover that started the play for Kane’s second half goal, and put in a crunching (and clean!) tackle in Spurs’ box that surely saved a goal. - I thought that Skippy played pretty well in the first half, but Bentancur was a distinct improvement over Skipp when he came on in the second half. - Son definitely caught Montiel with an elbow in the first half that drew blood, but it 100% wasn’t on Son, and the contact looked incidental. Plenty of robust tackling, and Richarlison got the brunt of a lot of it. - So contrast this with the K-League match and this was a lot less “friendly” of a competition.

A look behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur's tour of South Korea as our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold speaks to Antonio Conte and the players.

Comedian and TV star Michael McIntyre, a regular at Spurs matches with his family, also popped out for a few days of the tour before departing before Friday. Even if it's never easy when you arrive in the Premier League and he will have to adapt to the intensity of the games but he is a high level player. He has a great personality and he will adapt well to the team." We had a chat outside that hotel for a while and the 28-year-old is a thoroughly engaging and likeable guy, even if he remained expertly tight-lipped on anything the Spurs bosses might have spilled during his time within the hotel's inner sanctum. The 21-year-old will sign a long-term contract and Spurs will pay Middlesbrough £12.5m for him, rising to around £20m eventually if all conditions and objectives are met. The theme of growing ambition and excitement is definitely one that is sweeping across the Spurs squad. It can be very important to take the best decision about whether to stay in the squad, to stay at Tottenham or go out on loan and play with regularity every game and continue to improve." "Together, with Sarr we also have other young players and we will try with the club to take the best decision for them. I think we are going to start the season with a lot of ambition, but also a lot of humility and respect. The priority at the moment is to be focused on the preparation. "Like you said, it's going to be 10 years at the end of August. It's still very exciting and I'm looking forward to the new season. "Sure we are always looking to improve the squad if there is the possibility."

Tottenham: £21.6m star has 'great opportunity' to 'catch Conte's eye' (GiveMeSport)

Tottenham winger Bryan Gil has a “great opportunity” to impress Antonio Conte in pre-season, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

“If he catches the eye of Antonio Conte over the next few weeks, he could play his way into his plans going forward and he could save Spurs a bit of money in the transfer market if Gil does show what he has previously shown in Spain.” Regardless, with Tottenham still in the market for an attacking player, having shown interest in the Jesse Lingard and Anthony Gordon, O’Rourke reckons that Gil stepping up to the plate could save Tottenham millions. After hardly getting a look in during the three months he spent playing under Conte, many could be forgiven for thinking Gil would be loaned back in the current window.

How Tottenham may line up for Premier League opener vs ... (Daily Express)

TOTTENHAM have backed Antonio Conte in the summer transfer window and seemed primed for a good start to the Premier League season.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg formed an excellent partnership last season, and will battle it out for a place alongside Bissouma. The 28-year-old could be in line for an England recall ahead of the World Cup if his good form continues. He has played 413 games for the club and was key to Spurs’ surge into the top four last season. Versatile Croatian veteran Ivan Perisic can fill in at left wing-back, although Conte might want to see how Ryan Sessegnon develops after a positive end to last season. Spurs already have six new arrivals ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, with Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma just three of the stars added to Conte's squad. Depay is similarly versatile, even if he has transitioned to more of a central player in recent years. Finally, while Depay is thought to have accepted his fate, he is also comfortable and happy at Barca after completing a dream move just 12 months ago. The forward's career picked up massively at Lyon, and having taken that goal-scoring form to Spain he may seek to stay in La Liga. With just one year remaining on Depay's contract, Spurs evidently feel as though their offer is fair and reports indicate that they aren't keen to put more money on the table. Spurs are reportedly close to agreeing a fee, with their £15m offer only £2m short of Barca's asking price. Tottenham are reportedly only £2million away from Barcelona's valuation of Memphis Depay as transfer chief Fabio Paratici looks to add more attacking depth to the squad this summer.

If he does, it would be a return to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Manchester United for Lyon in 2016. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that the Barca board have been in contact with Depay this week and they are not actively looking to get rid of him, but would accept an appropriate offer given he has just one year left to run on his contract. It is not much of a gap to bridge, so if the clubs want to do a deal and the player fancies linking up with Antonio Conte, then an agreement seems likely to be reached.
