Always want to be on the ball and got Everton upfield with his running on more than one occasion. That was really the only way you'd know he was on the pitch. Good intent to drive Everton forward from midfield and full of running. Helpless as Saka touched home the second and was later booked for a robust tackle on Jesus. Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6.5 Jesus scored one, created another and his movement was crucial to tying the Arsenal attack together. With the ball at his feet, however, the midfielder was surprisingly wasteful, gifting Everton a couple of half-chances. Redeemed partially with stops from Jesus and Saka. Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6.5 Brings intensity and bite to Arteta's side. American was cheered more for his local ties than any meaningful contributions. Matt Turner – 6.5

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirms William Saliba plan as defender ... (Daily Express)

MIKEL ARTETA has laid down the law to William Saliba with the Frenchman bidding for regular football this season.

"He's in the plans," said Arteta. "We cannot guarantee first-team football to anybody in this team - you can ask that question to anybody. How many players at his age play as a central defender at a big club in the Premier League?" But in football it's about what you do the next day - what everybody did three months ago or a month ago, it doesn't really matter. The Independent claim that he will ask for a permanent exit if Arteta fails to provide the necessary assurances. Gunners fans have been left to sweat on Saliba's future over the past few months, with the Frenchman in demand after a loan spell with Marseille last season. A season under Jorge Sampaoli at Marseille last term was Saliba's best to date, and he became a full French international while racking up 52 appearances in all competitions.
