It's a good thing too — since the season ends on another massive revelation, the fact that Charmaine's (Lauren Hammersley) twins are not actually Jack's after all. "But it was a really interesting take that the writers chose, where they gave Jack this perspective of, 'Okay, I'm going to be the father to this woman I love's child, but it may not be my own.' One would assume you have the same relationship to that child but there is a selfishness to people too, and this idea of it's not mine, so will I have the same degree of connection to this child? "Mark and Jack look very different, so I feel like eventually you're going to figure it out." It's so powerful and strong between them that if it was Mark's, it just felt like it was the past coming up again. So it's an interesting ride they go along that they then try and navigate that and be respectful of the other's individual take on it and all that drama that ensues from it." But it was interesting that Jack, who is a man who doesn't know that from experience, has doubts.

No one can show support like a small, fictional town, the kind of mutual aid many of us have been desperately missing during the pandemic — perhaps why shows like "Virgin River" and the different, though equally chummy " Only Murders in the Building" have surged during this time. What keeps me (and maybe you, secretly) watching is the scenery and the citizens. A " Gilmore Girls" world has "Gilmore Girls" problems, including not many characters of color. Virgin River (Courtesy Of Netflix)Like a hand-knit sweater stored too long without cedar, "Virgin River" has some holes. Colin Lawrence as Preacher and Nicola Cavendish as Connie in "Virgin River" (Courtesy Of Netflix)PTSD from war and sexual violence aside, most of the subplots feel surprisingly relaxing because they're low stakes. Mel works in a medical practice out of a historic home, and though part of the first season includes her distaste about her lodging, Jack fixes up her cabin in no time. Brie (Zibby Allen), the attorney sister of bar owner Jack, is a survivor of sexual violence, and true to life, the assault won't stay buried. This is a "Gilmore Girls" world with low crime (despite some kind of convoluted loggers/drug dealers subplot that everyone ignores), high incomes and gorgeous houses. Perhaps we like "Virgin River" because it prepares us to deal with a secret surprise grandson, or adopting your baby sibling your mom almost abandoned because she had the infant late in life after her husband died and then she dies suddenly too and you have a seizure from stress? Terrible luck falls upon the town of Virgin River more steadily than the British Columbian (pretending to be Northern Californian) rain. I think they mean "classy," and if viewing via a laptop perched on the bathroom counter while one is a bubble bath is secret, then fine. "Virgin River" has returned for its fourth season on Netflix, and it has returned a star after generating over 2 billion viewing minutes last season.

Anyway, I'm really excited have Brady be out of that cloud and hopefully rejoin the community of Virgin River. This might be an opportunity for him to move away from that fringe and that antagonist cloud that he lives under and repair relationships. "I really hope that Brady moves on now that he's exonerated from shooting Jack," he says, before joking, "We all know Brady's a good shot, so if he was really trying to shoot Jack he wouldn't have shot him in the leg. In fact, it wasn't even anyone connected to Calvin (David Cubitt) and the drug operation.
Our recap of the Virgin River season 4 opening episode. Does it finally answer those pressing questions from the season 3 finale? More drama lies ahead...
Doc responds that he’s not a stranger and is the son of a friend from medical school. Mike talks to Jack about Brie. He says he’s tongue-tied around her and instead talks to her about Brady's arrest. Jack tries to convince her to take the job and stay because of the new baby, but can't tell her about the pregnancy due to his agreement with Mel. Jack has a clear memory of Vince being in the restaurant and shooting him. The boy shows Doc a photo of him and the woman and says his grandma gave it to him. The boy says his grandma's name is Rose and Doc admits to knowing someone of that name who died 40 years ago. She says her first clue that something was wrong is that Lilly always sent cards so she knew something was wrong when she didn't have one from Lilly. Doc explained the circumstances around Lilly’s illness and death. Lizzie helps out with gardening while keeping an eye on Hope. She unwittingly tells Hope that Lilly has died after Hope asks to go visit Lilly and Lizzie replies by asking if she wants to go to the cemetery. Mel says she's comfortable with her current ob-gyn and explains that she did everything by the book with her first pregnancy and still lost the baby. Jack and Mel visit the ob-gyn’s office to discuss paternity testing. Mel advises him that honesty and trust are critical for her recovery and says he should tell her the truth. Jack awakens, clearly worried about the uncertainty of the baby’s paternity and how it’s going to affect his relationship with Mel.
As you wait for season five of Virgin River, here are a few series that will satisfy your craving for cozy drama, including Gilmore Girls and Jane The ...
Yep, our beloved Netflix series has it all—and so, too, does Jane The Virgin. The CW drama serves as a playful homage to the telenovelas that inspired it (and all their trademark twists), but is grounded by emotional performances that feel as real and raw as Virgin River’s heaviest moments. One of the big through lines in Virgin River is found family—from the bond between Preacher, Paige, and Christopher, to the entire River rallying behind Chloe after Lilly’s death. Tonally, Grey’s Anatomy isn’t the most obvious show to watch after Virgin River. It’s a fast-paced medical drama, for starters—so while there is some interesting overlap with Mel’s work at the clinic (plenty of pregnancies and tragic patient storylines, too), Grey’s doesn’t quite have the slow, cozy feel of Virgin River. But it does have Martin Henderson—which, if you’re a Jack fan, might be reason enough to tune in! ). In true Virgin River fashion, season four delivered some new questions, too—including the real father of Charmaine’s twins (we have some theories!) and what’s next for Paige, Preacher, and Christopher after that climactic season finale that finally put an end to Vince’s violent grasp on the group. There’s a similar woodsy setting, as well as themes of trauma, family, and survival that can also be seen in Virgin River. No matter what time of year you’re watching, it always sort of feels like fall on Virgin River—and the same could be said for the next recommendation on this list.
