The true Rob Edwards has not necessarily been put on in terms of a playing style. Some of the potential departures will change what Watford can do, whilst the new signings will have a similar impact. He has inherited a solid squad that should be competitive in the Championship and he has got them playing with a hunger and desire that wasn’t always there last season, so that is really encouraging. Ismaila Sarr is a danger when he is on form and Birmingham will be well aware of that, including Troy Deeney who played with him. It will go all the way up to the wire with players coming in and players, potentially, being snapped up elsewhere. The new Head Coach, Rob Edwards, has had to get to grips with a new squad and division after great success at Forest Green Rovers. They have hit the ground running to take seven points from three difficult games.

Birmingham City host Watford in the fourth round of the Championship. Will the Birmingham club be able to make up for the recent failures?

In the current Championship campaign, the matches featuring Birmingham City and Watford are tightly fought. We do not rule out that Watford can earn three points in Birmingham and, in doing so, make another clean sheet against the home team. Watford has won 22 games, while Birmingham has proved stronger in 18. In total, Birmingham and Watford have met 48 times. Watford then traded away action with West Bromwich Albion (1-1). On Matchday 3, Rob Edwards' team outplayed Burnley (1-0). Before round four starts, the team is in third place in the standings. That is, an unconvincing and unstable game again marks the team.

3 things you need to watch out for in Birmingham City v Watford tonight (Football League World)

The first round of midweek Championship fixtures of the season begins this evening, with a number of clubs in action. One of the games taking place comes at ...

While it is still way too early in the season for things to be decided, points on the board are always vital, and being in such a position is only going to serve to lift the mood and confidence around a club, meaning this could still be a very important chance for Watford to try and take. There will of course, be one very familiar face to those of a Watford persuasion within the Birmingham ranks this evening, in the form of Troy Deeney. The chance of a return to the Premier League could certainly appeal to Pedro, so it will be interesting to see if Watford boss Rob Edwards believes the 20-year-old is still focused enough to face the Blues, and if the player himself is still ready to risk an injury by playing, when such a move could be on the cards.
