Arsenal's Europa League game against PSV has been postponed by UEFA ahead of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in London with the match get be rearranged in due ...

In the other game of the group, PSV came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Bodo/Glimt as Arsenal target Cody Gakpo struck the equaliser for the Dutch team. Those demands will push an already overstretched police force to the brink and mean high-profile football matches could be postponed. However, with the funeral occurring a day later on September 19, it is looking unlikely that the game at the Brentford Community Stadium will go ahead. UEFA also confirmed the news by saying: "UEFA confirm @Arsenal v PSV Eindhoven is postponed 'with a new date to be communicated in due course'. Last weekend it seemed that the game would be played next Thursday, but the national authorities in Great Britain have decided that insufficient deployment of police personnel is possible due to the funeral services of the British Queen Elizabeth in London. We will keep supporters who have bought a ticket for the match personally informed of developments by e-mail."

The UEFA administration takes a final decision on alternative match venues in due time." Furthermore, the rearranged fixture may not take place on a Thursday as UEFA's administration can make an exception. "We are working with the authorities to reschedule the match and any tickets (including those purchased via Ticket Exchange or received via Ticket Transfer) and/or hospitality packages purchased for this fixture will be valid for the rescheduled date. The following principles apply to this competition: "As a rule, a rescheduled match is played at the same venue. "The club concerned will have to make all the necessary arrangements for the staging of the match together with the relevant association and local authorities. For that purpose, the home clubs must conclude all the necessary agreements to ensure that the required facilities are available and can be operated. The rescheduling may entail exceptions to the regular match calendar. For emergency back-up stadiums, exceptions can be made to all existing stadium requirements. "Our UEFA Europa League home fixture against PSV Eindhoven, scheduled for Thursday 15 September, has been postponed," a statement reads. "Should such an association and club not be able to propose an acceptable alternative venue by the deadline set by the UEFA administration, UEFA may select an alternative, neutral venue, which may be in the home territory or in the territory of another UEFA association. "In exceptional circumstances and for cases of extreme urgency which may have a significant impact on the running of the competition and to ensure the match is completed, if necessary without spectators, the home club must guarantee a back-up stadium, for approval by the UEFA administration.

There is a possibility that the Carabao Cup clash could be moved to make way for the PSV game, but as this would be after the scheduled end of the Europa League group stages, it raises concerns over the fairness of the competition. However, this match is due to be broadcast on Amazon Prime and it is not yet clear how they will react to the prospect of the match being rescheduled. One of these is on the week beginning November 7, where Arsenal are currently scheduled to play Brighton in the EFL Cup on either the 8th or 9th of November. However, with so many fans having already booked travel to the ground it was thought that this would still be a security issue even if the game was played with no one at the Emirates. One of these was to flip the fixtures so that the reverse fixture in Eindhoven could take place on Thursday. However, with 3,000 PSV fans expected to travel to London for the game, the police decided that they could not provide the appropriate level of safety while their resources were so stretched.
