If you take multiple medications, you can choose the shape and color of what you take to make it easier to recognize. Then, you'll get a notification based on the time you take your medication, and you can log and track when you've taken them. In iOS 16, you can now track your medications directly on your iPhone (and your Apple Watch). Now, you can also choose to display a specific Lock Screen and Home Screen on your iPhone, as well as a Watch face based on the Focus you set. You can also choose which notifications come through, and set it up to hide your work email and appointments within different apps. One of the best features of iOS 16 is that you can now customize your Lock Screen. I love this because it gives you the information without the anxiety. I recommend everyone set up at least three Focus Filters, one for work, one for not-work, and one for when you really need to focus. New in iOS 16 is the ability to pair a Home Screen with your Lock Screen. Another feature Apple has added is Focus Filters, which expands on the ability to set a Focus and control notifications. The latter hides all notifications, and instead gives you a count at the bottom of the Lock Screen letting you know how many notifications you have. With that in mind, after you've installed the free update to iOS 16, here are the five things you should do immediately in order to get the most out of your device:

Live Activities will also be coming in a future iOS 16 update. Clean Energy Charging does this by optimizing charging times for when the energy grid is using cleaner energy sources. But even after iOS 16's release yesterday (September 12), Apple still found a way to surprise us with a new feature coming to its iPhone software. Apple also hasn't clarified if Clean Energy Charging will be available on all iOS 16 devices or limited to newer iPhones.

Some iOS 16 Features Aren't Ready, but It's for the Best—Here's Why (Lifewire)

Some features won't be available until another update is released later this year—likely iOS 16.1. Apple previously released features that were sometimes broken ...

And if experts are right, Apple is using the extra time to polish those features and iron out any bugs that might otherwise have been in the hands of real people everywhere. "That is why I recommend never upgrading the iOS on your phones, tablets, or computers until months later," he said. The iOS 16 update comes a year after iOS 15, which itself was released a year after iOS 14, and so on. [Jeff Kagan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeff-kagan), told Lifewire in email, that he believes Apple is doing the right thing even if some people would prefer a different approach. Apple may have held the feature back to avoid outing the changes too early ( [though it still leaked](https://www.developer-tech.com/news/2022/aug/02/xcode-14-beta-practically-confirms-iphone-14-pro-aod/)). [Dynamic Island](https://www.lifewire.com/the-iphone-14-pros-dynamic-island-is-apple-at-its-techno-whimsical-best-6561232)—that hadn't been announced yet. In fact, Kagan suggests those people might want to take Apple's lead a step further. So why announce features that weren't yet ready, and why did some features appear in beta versions of iOS 16, only to be removed? [iCloud Shared Photo Library](https://www.lifewire.com/apples-shared-icloud-photo-library-may-finally-fix-family-albums-5341346) is one such feature. It's a decision that means hotly anticipated features like Live Activities aren't available yet, but the delay is one that experts believe was warranted. [brand new iPhone 14 lineup](https://www.lifewire.com/iphone-14-5190306). When Apple first announced iOS 16 during its WWDC22 event in June, it made a great deal of noise about the new features that iPhone users should look forward to.

iOS 16 Introduced A Fun Photo Cutout Feature, But Here's Why It ... (Elite Daily)

If you're trying to have all the fun with the new “Lift subject from background” photo cutout feature on iOS 16, but it's not working, here's what you need ...

Along with providing users that ability to [edit and unsend texts in Messages](https://www.elitedaily.com/news/how-to-edit-text-message-on-iphone-ios-16), one of the most anticipated iOS 16 features was the new photo cutout feature that allows users to lift a subject from a photo and share it via Messages, AirDrop, Notes, Instagram, Twitter, and more. Because A12 Bionic wasn’t introduced until the iPhone XR, there are a few phones before the genesis of the A12 Bionic that aren’t compatible with the photo cutout tool: When the A12 Bionic chip made its debut in 2018 with the iPhone XR, Apple referred to the hardware as “ [the smartest and most powerful chip in a smartphone](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2018/10/iphone-xr-available-for-pre-order-on-friday-october-19/)” for its next generation Neural-Engine, immersive AR capabilities, all day battery life, and more. If you’re having issues and have one of these phones, double-check you downloaded iOS 16, and if all else fails, try exiting the Photos app completely or restarting your iPhone. If you tried to use the feature for yourself and couldn’t, you might be wondering why iOS 16’s photo cutout feature is not working for you and your newly updated phone. [new features that come with it](https://www.elitedaily.com/news/apple-ios-16-release-date-new-features-supported-devices), since June 2022, so it’s no surprise the hype surrounding the update was extremely high leading up to its Sept.
