Real Madrid has Valverde and Vinicius in the wings and Rodrygo through the centre. The ever-green Luka Modric is still up and running. Real Madrid is being patient with the ball. The Ukrainian team has been playing in exile for the last eight years because of Russian aggression. The French striker is still recovering from a tendon injury sustained in last week’s win. It has the pace of Nkunku and Werner to outrun the Madrid defense. It is clear that Real Madrid prefers to attack through its left. Meanwhile, Valverde chases down a ball by the right corner flag and wins a corner. Werner chops in and sets up Forsberg, but the Swede blazes it wide. Real Madrid’s first shot of the day comes from Rodrygo. Madrid clearly misses the calming presence of Karim Benzema upfront. Werner is released after Carvajal loses the ball up front.

Real Madrid in white, Leipzig in black. At least forward Yussuf Poulsen was back on the bench last weekend and is available again. Nkunku runs onto a pass straight through the middle of the Madrid defense, but Thibaut Courtois is ready to stop the shot, conceding a corner. Right-back Alvaro Odriozola is available off the bench after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while Rodrygo gets the start over Eden Hazard after the former outplayed the latter with a goal and assist last weekend against Mallorca. It's a perfect start for the German side and the record Champions League winners are frustrated. Halftime: Real Madrid are not themselves and they're about to get a talking to from manager Carlo Ancelotti. Madrid are lifeless, and Timo Werner just waltzes through the backline and delivers a cross into the six-yard box that a sliding Nkunku can't reach. This one also comes in transition and Timo Werner tees up Emil Forsberg, but he can't get the shot on target from the top of the box. Italian referee Maurizio Mariani looks the other way despite the fact that Schlager clatters into the back of Luka Modric in the Leipzig box. Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League last season and they're showing no signs of slowing down in 2022/23. RB Leipzig were upset in a 4-1 home loss to Shakhtar Donetsk on Matchday 1 of the group stage and that cost manager Domenico Tedesco his job. and Brazilian compatriot Rodrygo have picked up the slack in recent matches.

Asensio had thrown a bib down in frustration as an unused substitute in the second half of Madrid's win over Mallorca. On the hour Ancelotti had seen enough and brought on Asensio for Eduardo Camavinga. Rodrygo ran over the ball for Valverde who steamed in from the right and bent a left foot shot past Leipzig keeper Peter Gulacsi. Without the still-injured Benzema, Carlo Ancelotti had started with Rodrygo either side of Valverde and Vinicius. They even booed Marco Asensio when he came on as a second half sub. Madrid's fans were spoilt with the spectacular last season and they were bored by a tepid first half from the home side.

Carlo Ancelotti has reacted to the controversy surrounding Vinicius Junior following Real Madrid's game against Mallorca.

He has extraordinary quality and it’s normal that opponents try to stop him in his tracks and the rules of the game are there to protect all players, not just Vinicius.” But instead, the Brazilian has been in the eye of some controversy for his antics during games. And this time around, he seems to have gotten even more lethal in front of goal and is on a five-match scoring streak right now, with Real Madrid winning all of them.

Real Madrid concerned over Bernabeu turf ahead of next home games (SPORF)

The pitch at the Bernabeu has caused Real Madrid a headache as they worry about its condition ahead of their next La Liga home game.

Unfortunately, supply issues as a result of the conflict in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic have slowed progress. Madrid can make plans to hold concerts, basketball games, American football, and tennis matches at the Bernabeu in the future. This is a significant delay from the previously desired deadline. However, the club has not specified the manner in which they will fix the surface. [France 24](https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20220808-drought-forces-water-use-rethink-in-spain), some regions of Spain are at their driest point in a thousand years, with most reservoirs beneath [40% capacity](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/30/historic-monuments-resurface-as-severe-drought-shrinks-spains-reservoirs). Therefore, their pitch gets minimal recovery time following the Mallorca game last Sunday. Or will they replace their pitch for the second consecutive year? However, the heat has torched the turf, altering the surface quality. As a result, club officials are worried about the damage that may occur before their next La Liga game. For now, there is no mention of Real Madrid or any other club making an attempt to sign him. However, a fresh revelation suggests that the youngster could be set for bigger and better things. Apart from catching the eye of the Germany manager, Bella-Kotchap has seemingly drawn the attention of three of the biggest clubs in Europe in the form of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. All in all, this is a very exciting development for both Bravo and Madridistas, as the starlet could impress in training and most certainly make his first outing for the European champions this term. With Karim Benzema set to be unavailable for the side’s upcoming clash against Atletico Madrid and expected to be handled with care as he returns from injury, there could be a chance that the teenager makes his debut for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
