And there was still time for Toney to foolishly lose his head after an air shot when he volleyed the ball into the crowd and rightly received a yellow card. The Bees top scorer found some space five minutes before the break must miss-kicked horribly when he appeared to get a nudge in the back from Adam Smith. After taking a couple of minutes viewing endless replays Bramall appeared to come to his senses when it looked as though he had changed his mind when he pointed to the spot. And much to their anger in the final seconds of stoppage time Bramall turned down another penalty appeal when the ball appeared to strike Mathias Jensen’s hand in the box. The deadline for Gareth Southgate to name his squad is October 19. Toney cut an irritated figure before the restart but came alive in the second when his snapshot was just off target. But he sticks to his decision and that says a lot about him. "Mikkel Damsgaard showed glimpses of his quality and glides when he is in possession. A free-kick in a dangerous area failed to beat the wall. I understand as well why they took a while to review the first one. "I think Ajer obviously slips and his trailing foot does make contact with the ball. After a lengthy VAR delay, Bramall ignored the suggestion a clear and obvious error had occurred. Jefferson Lerma's looping header offered moderate threat to open the second half, but Toney nipped in to nod clear with no genuine alarm. Bournemouth's ire grew still further at the final whistle, as Bramall gave no second thought to the ball striking Mathias Jensen's arm in the area. A short VAR delay comes after the final whistle but decision is not overturned. Interim Bournemouth boss O'Neill will still have been delighted to extend his side's unbeaten run to four Premier League matches.

Bournemouth player ratings vs Brentford: Philip Billing struggles on ... (Dorset Live)

The Cherries delivered another resilient defensive showing at Vitality Stadium to claim a point in the Premier League.

The apparent confusion around the frontline didn't exactly aid his cause, and it was no surprise that he was taken off with just under 20 minutes left on the clock. That, of course, is down to a lack of off-the-ball movement, and this afflicted the whole of the side. To little surprise, his physicality was a useful asset, but he left behind a lingering sense of what could have been. The striker was forced to work off next to no service again this week. A quiet day at the office for Kieffer Moore. His centre-half partner was typically the man to sweep up behind for long balls, allowing Marcos Senesi a remit to progress more with his passes. In a match of small margins, his balance and poise were crucial. He was also the man who went down under Kristoffer Ajer's clumsy tackle, which should have resulted in a penalty being awarded. Sported the captain's armband again and looked to constantly urge his team-mates to inject more energy into the contest in a bid to generate momentum. Normally the man responsible for progressive passes through the middle, he took more of a back seat against Brentford. The stalwart snapped into a number of well-timed tackles, continuing his superb season. As a result, his side were unable to spring forward on the transition, as they have done recently.
