Opinion | Beware those 'inspiration porn' videos showing how ... (TheRecord.com)

Disabled social-media influencers who brighten your day by showing how they go grocery shopping are obscuring a much more important conversation, ...

If people get the warm fuzzies when they watch videos of me romping with my guide dog, or when they virtually accompany me to the grocery store, they are likely to think: “Wow, that’s great. It boils down to this: Inspiration porn makes the mundane seem uniquely extraordinary. Those are the things we want most of all, more than someone attending our TED Talks, or following us on Instagram. And a 12-year-old wheelchair user who’s the next keynote speaker at a community fundraising event. When anyone asks me the ultimate goals of my disability related advocacy, my answer is simple.

On the morning of September 30, no one knew that a coup d’etat was about to take place and so it isn’t unusual that the training operations continued as normal. A large number of them are in training with AMGN [Editor’s note: which means they are being trained by experienced parachutists.] To get their certification, they have to do six jumps. There were some officials with the Burkina Faso gendarmerie in Bobo-Dioulasso for this event to celebrate a new class completing the program. The two videos both mention the same town and both say the first parachutists were spotted on September 30. Since yesterday, this plane has been dropping parachutists while people are dying in the Sahel. In the second video, the person filming the parachutists says, in Mooré, one of the many languages spoken in Burkina Faso: “You, who are parachuting.

The 10 greatest Hollywood cameos in metal videos (Louder)

Keanu Reeves and Anthrax, Guns N' Roses and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Pinhead and Lemmy – this is what happens when metal and Hollywood collide.

The kid who’d become Mike Wheeler plays a younger incarnation of Pup’s vocalist and rhythm guitarist Stefan Babcock: a role he reprises in the 2016 Sleep In The Heat clip. [Stranger Things](https://www.loudersound.com/reviews/10-things-we-learned-from-the-brand-new-season-of-stranger-things), but he was unknown when punk rockers Pup put him in Guilt Trip’s 2014 music video. He returned for the sequel, Pride In Prejudice (sadly not based on a Jane Austen book), where he’s kidnapped by and subsequently saved from neo-Nazis. The payoff is that he attends the senior prom and proceeds to projectile vomit over his tormentors. As much as metal likes to think it’s a genre for outsiders, pretty much every band out there will bite the hand off any Hollywood A-lister who offers to appear in one of their videos. From Jesse Pinkman to The Terminator, these are the 10 greatest Hollywood cameos in metal videos.

Zoom is 'washed out' as video conference provider pivots its ... (CNBC)

The teleconferencing firm is transitioning its business in the face of increasing competition from Microsoft and others.

"Ultimately, while we believe in Zoom's platform and long-term vision, this view is balanced by execution risk, a contract renewal cycle that may occur during a time of tightening budgets and evolving competitive landscape in a slowing macroeconomic climate," read the note. Now, Zoom is reinvesting in research and development, as well as sales and marketing, to expand its business into chat, contact center and phone. "Our assessment is positive on Zoom's underlying technology, continued innovation, and market position, and we are impressed by the cash-generative financial profile, though we believe these are offset by near-term growth and margin headwinds as Zoom pivots to optimize business mix and ramps spending to explore new avenues of growth as well as address competitive evolution," JPM analyst Mark Murphy wrote in a Friday note.
