This was the only win in the last five meetings, the other three wins for Monaco and a draw. Last season Montpellier finished 13th in Ligue 1 with 43 points, 11 points clear of the relegation zone. They are currently in the top of the table with 12 points, five points away from the European places and another five points ahead of the relegation zone; 19-year-old Elye Wahi is one of the big surprises in the Ligue 1 standings, as he has five goals and one assist to his name. Monaco: A sunny place for bad guys - Santa Barbara News-Press (Santa Barbara News-Press)

Editor's note: This is the second of two articles about the CIA and the Monaco intelligence service that columnist Robert Eringer led.

I earned little money in service to the prince because we invested most of our budget into building a quite stellar service, to provide the prince with the finest intelligence he would need for introducing a new ethic to his principality. “It’s one of two things,” I said. “Senator, I haven’t come here to ask you to do anything. “Does that make sense?” he concluded with his catchphrase. We were still in crisis mode, fighting for our survival, and he wanted to recite his playbook, the basis of our relationship, or “The S’s,” as he called them: Support, security, structure, and separation —though “the S’s” could have stood for s**t-squared. And in a scene borrowed from “The Godfather,” Clair foretold the end of my mission in the prince’s service. “We have a new European division chief taking over shortly.” (The fourth in as many years.) “As I’ve already told you,” I said, sipping coffee, “your police intelligence unit produced several reports over a 10-year period that no one at the Palace bothered to read, assuming the reports even reached the Palace. With still no word from Albert to clarify the situation, I booked a flight to London. “This is how it will happen: A group will go to Albert and demand, ‘Get rid of Robert.’” “A renowned liar,” said another spy, “and not very good at it.” When I mentioned his name to other CIA officers, they would scratch their heads in bewilderment and say, “Don’t know how he got Paris.” Clearly, LIPS, as this agent was called, was out of his depth.

AS Monaco too good for Montpellier in slick away win (Monaco Tribune)

AS Monaco extended their winning streak in Ligue 1 to five matches after defeating Montpellier 0-2 away from home, with goals from Breel Embolo and Myron.

Wanting to get back on level terms immediately, Montpellier came out firing in the second half, as the likes of Teji Savanier and Arnaud Nordin came close to equalising. We lacked a bit of freshness up front but with the series of matches, that’s normal,” explained a content Clement afterwards. There were also good things with the ball.
