- Where have the goals gone? Wolves currently find themselves just one place outside of the drop zone. It’s very unlikely, but if results elsewhere were to go a certain way this week, the Eagles could find themselves occupying the final relegation spot. Inconsistency has crept into Crystal Palace’s season – they’ve only won once in their last six games (a 2-1 win over Leeds). Just one point separates the two sides, though Palace have a game in hand. The Irishman could slot back into defence alongside Maximilian Kilman in place of Toti Gomes.

Wolves warned of high cost in appointing shock manager, as ... (Teamtalk.com)

Wolves have been told it will be costly to bring Nuno Espirito Santo back, while an alternative boss has reportedly 'impressed' during his interview.

This means Wolves wouldn’t have to pay any money to release him from a contract. The chief then spoke about whether Nuno’s agent had gone to Saudi Arabia to discuss his client’s future. He had a disappointing spell at Tottenham before moving to Saudi Arabia and becoming Al-Ittihad’s boss. Secondly, Bosz is a free agent right now. However, he sadly had to push back their advances as his elderly father is ill. Wolves let Bruno Lage go on October 2 following a run of just one win in eight Premier League games.

Crystal Palace 2 Wolves 1 - Report (expressandstar.com)

Wolves threw away a lead at Crystal Palace to record their sixth defeat in 11 games after a second-half capitulation.

Neves stepped up to take it and he smashed the post with the last action of the half, as Wolves entered the break with a 1-0 advantage. Edouard got in behind Collins and crossed low to Zaha, after Max Kilman missed his interception, and the Palace forward finished easily. The hosts were on top and some last-ditch defending was needed from Wolves. However, just before the break, Zaha was found in a good position on the left, but he sliced his shot wide. Moving the ball from one wing to the other, Ruben Neves released Bueno down the left and his excellent cross found Adama who headed home at the far post. But Wolves are yet to buck the trend of collapsing during games and once again they crumbled.

Adama Traoré put Wolves ahead but second-half goals from Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha earned hosts Crystal Palace a 2-1 victory.

Wolves’ danger on the counter remained and a triple substitution that brought on Gonçalo Guedes, João Moutinho and Joseph Hodge was Davis’s attempt to shore up midfield. “We knew we had it within us and we got what we deserved. His players had left the field to grumbles from the Holmesdale End but within seconds of the second-half whistle, they were level. Olise, forever surging in from the flank, gave him a frightful chasing at times. His overlapping run and cross were those of a high-class veteran. The wait for a first goal in English football since the 2017 FA Cup final continues.

Vieira said: "He's getting to his best, but he's starting to really understand what the game is about - how to be decisive. I think we had the ball for the first goal and gave it away. On the Guehi handball incident: "It looks like a penalty, the guy's put his hand out and it's hit his hand. We are really happy with the team performance." That was the worst period of the game for us. It is about being more clinical, defending better as well, but today the performance was good because we showed character and quality and resilience. "When Wilfried is having a good day, the team will have a good day. Wilfried knows what the club thinks about him and we know what he thinks about the club. "The front players did really well in possession, but it was a team performance. Wolves threatened an equaliser late on and will have felt aggrieved to have not been awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute. Olise fired in a cross after his own corner was cleared back to him, but Marc Guehi glanced his header past the post. It was his fifth goal of the season - more than the entire Wolves team combined.

Wolves look like a team in need of a hug after Crystal Palace loss ... (Eurosport.com)

Defeat at Crystal Palace leaves managerless Wolves teetering just above the relegation zone. You can see why they are thinking about getting Nuno back.

2006 was, of course, the year of Italy's World Cup victory, and so Fabio Cannavaro beat Gigi Buffon to the prize. This year is the first year since 2006 that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo have finished in the top three of the voting for the men's Ballon d'Or. Weird how supporting football has changed in about a million very important ways, and yet 'man shouting loudly' remains such a crucial part of the overall experience. Goal of the evening in the Championship came from Ben Brereton Díaz, who did one of those sidefoot from long range goals that always look impossibly cool. [here](https://www.ecaeurope.com/media/4802/eca-fan-of-the-future-defining-modern-football-fandom.pdf)- but even on the face of it, that means that 60% do have an interest. But thanks for that job go equally to Henderson, the crossbar, and Brighton's wonky shooting, which doesn't really point to a smooth defensive smothering. The Warm-Up sat down to watch this game thinking it might be entertaining, and it was! Up the other end, the square root of almost nothing. Perhaps they came to the AmEx looking for a point, and if so, job done! Perhaps a little cynically, we wonder if the most appealing thing about a Nuno return, from the point of view of the Wolves hierarchy, might be the fact that he's got them out of the Championship before. A big warm cup of Brighton with extra marshmallows on top, perfect for the deepening evenings. Whatever happens, it's unlikely to be a whole lot of fun.

Wolves at crossroads in managerial search as Michael Beale ... (Daily Express)

Wolves, who lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, sacked Bruno Lage on October 3 following the 2-0 defeat to West Ham.

His departure from Villa Park, where he was described as a "second manager" by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, has been a significant underlying factor in their downfall this season as Gerrard now faces calls for the sack. Former Wolves midfielder Rob Edwards has also fallen under consideration following his short spell in charge of Watford. Wolves are seemingly no closer to appointing Bruno Lage's successor following an extensive yet underwhelming interview process but the club now seem willing to test the water with a formal approach for Queens Park Rangers head coach Michael Beale.

Following the defeat to Crystal Palace, Liam Keen rates the players on their performance.

At the moment, Adama is Wolves' most influential attacking force and he must start every game. Traore is very raw and a little haphazard but in the first half he offered exactly what Wolves needed against Palace – energy and aggression.
