The cultural resonance of the first “Black Panther” was a major reason for them to go ahead, despite the monumental challenges. Feige was eager to adapt the sprawling “Civil War” storyline from the comics, presenting a challenge because Marvel Studios didn’t have the rights to many of the characters in that saga.
