The City said the temporary closure was due to an electrical failure at the Clifton Road sewer pump station that was caused by a faulty ultrasonic device.

This is a precaution as contact with the water could result in potential gastrointestinal issues and therefore any person who enters the water does so at their own risk,โ€ the statement read. โ€œIn the meantime, the public is advised to avoid contact with the water until further notice. The City said as a precaution, City Health has advised that the beach be closed between Muizenberg Pavilion and Sunrise Beach until further notice.
