Using Drones to Spy Beach-Bound Sharks | Hakai Magazine (Hakai Magazine)

Ongoing tests show drones are an effective way to spot sharks that wander too close to busy beaches.

The toll of the nets and drumlines on sharks also has to be balanced against the threat sharks actually pose to beachgoers. They’ve committed to expanding the project, which will continue through June 2025 at a cost of roughly US $1.3-million per year. The Australia Shark Incident Database recorded 1,196 shark bites in the country over the past 231 years, from 1791 to 2022. On busy beach days, the drone zips along at up to 20 kilometers per hour, staying out of the way at an altitude of 60 meters. “There are clear benefits across the board” to having drones at the beach. on a sunny 29 °C Saturday at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast of southeast Queensland, Australia.

Grilled fish is perhaps an obvious choice, but the sheer variety and freshness of the archipelago provide a true ocean-to-plate experience unlike any other. Another lauded dish is les roussettes, a lip-searing curry prepared with chunks of skinned fruit bat marinated in vinegar and red wine, cooked with a variety of herbs and spices. Over the years, African, Indian and European flavours were added to the cooking pot, with passing ships leaving a trail of spices in their wake. Breadfruit is a staple of the island diet that can be barbequed, boiled, baked or steamed, though it is most frequently eaten as fried chips. Creole cooking makes good use of the island’s natural bounty. But after sampling the rest of Creole cuisine, you may not want to leave at all.

The IRB headed out a final time to pick up the lifeguards who then returned to the club and then carried the IRB back off the beach. In this case, the lifeguards warned the fishermen of the dangers, but they ignored that advice and still headed out on the rocks. On the second return trip, Emily Tusa accompanied Taylor and they went back to the shingle beach to get the other lifeguards and headed around the point to locate another two fishermen who were stuck on the rocks. Hobson escorted this fisherman back to the shingle beach amongst the rocks to meet the IRB and he was returned to the beach by the club. While this was happening, it was decided that the best way to reach the remaining two fishermen was for Taylor to climb up the rocks, over the hill and down to the rocks on the other side of the point to meet them. An hour later the lifeguards on patrol at Sunset Beach launched a proactive rescue as the fishermen were cut off from the beach by the incoming tide.

Israel's shark beach: splendid attraction or site of a future catastrophe? (Haaretz)

You Can Still See Sharks Swimming Freely Near the Hadera's Power Plant, but the Area Is Filthy, Unsupervised, and Dangerous.

There’s no nature there, and it is not natural, but it is possible to experience an encounter with sharks there in a unique way that you don’t find anywhere else in the Mediterranean Sea, and only in a few places in the world. That is a challenging thing in such an environment, but because the site is about to change in the year to come, with the termination of use of coal, I don’t think there is any point in investing in it. “Our insights are making it clear that there is a certain dominance there of males of the sandbar species and of female dusky sharks. All of the sharks that we encounter in the area are adults. If the water cools, the sharks might not come to the site at all.” “The sovereign authority is the Hadera Municipality, and they have problems in various areas. “Additionally, a good observation deck is needed, one that is closer to the sea. In our conversation, Shabtay agreed that the existing observation deck was unsuitable and that it does not allow the public to see the sharks. The behavior of the sharks is also unpredictable. The chaos on the Hadera coastline is the combination of several factors that come together to create an elaborate mishmash. Research reveals that a shiver (yes, that’s the name for a group of sharks) of about 20 to 30 sharks, both males and females, find their way to the site. They come to the site in the winter months, between November and March.
