[Malema](https://www.instagram.com/julius.malema.sello/) may be a lot of controversial things, but being a loving husband and family man takes the top spot in our books! Once again they left broke necks on social media after the EFF leader shared a snap of the two of them [attending an event](https://briefly.co.za/96975-julius-malema-beautiful-wife-mantwa-matlala-turn-heads-posh-event.html) together. “Exemplary black love, the secrecy to 8 years of unbroken bond in marriage is being best friends. To mark the special occasion, the EFF leader took to his Instagram account to pen a heartfelt message honouring his wife and their strong bond. We only have the two of us when confronted by upheaval and not relying on defeatists. In the post he wrote:

A screenshot image has been gaining traction on social media in South Africa in the early days of 2023, despite being at least a year old.

It could have been taken at the same time as the photo in the [screenshot](https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2133462926791988&set=a.885947631543530&type=3) on Facebook. Books [about his life](https://www.panmacmillan.co.za/authors/fiona-forde/still-an-inconvenient-youth/9781770103962) and the [establishment of the EFF](https://jacana.co.za/product/the-coming-revolution-julius-malema-and-the-fight-for-economic-freedom/) in 2013 have recorded the same biography. Judging by the [comments](https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=908783272641139&set=pcb.908783479307785) on Facebook, it was taken at an ANC conference when Malema was a teenager, which would have been in the 1990s. [radical land reform](https://mg.co.za/politics/2021-09-26-eff-produces-ambitious-manifesto-promising-land-redistribution/). He led the ruling African National Congress's [Youth League from 2008 until he was expelled from the ANC in 2011](https://www.britannica.com/biography/Julius-Malema). The photo in the screenshot may show Malema, though we can't prove or disprove this definitively. There are also many photos available of Malema as a young man in South Africa. The He has also been a [member of the South African parliament](https://www.parliament.gov.za/person-details/167) since 2014. [Malema](https://www.britannica.com/biography/Julius-Malema) leads the [Economic Freedom Fighters](https://www.britannica.com/topic/Economic-Freedom-Fighters), or EFF, a political party which [describes itself](https://effonline.org/) as a "radical and militant economic emancipation movement". It is posted with the claim it shows opposition politician Julius Malema as a youngster. But there is no evidence for this - or that the pic even shows the firebrand.
