Walker, Cancelo and Foden start as City make four changes for ... (Manchester City FC)

Pep Guardiola has made four changes to his starting line-up for tonight's Barclays Premier League clash at Chelsea.

Only two players have scored more than one goal in their first two away Premier League appearances in London – Mark Robins in 1992 (for Norwich vs Arsenal and Chelsea) and Michu in 2012 (for Swansea vs QPR and Arsenal). [Kyle Walker](https://www.mancity.com/players/kyle-walker), Joao Cancelo and Phil [Foden](https://www.mancity.com/players/phil-foden) all come in for their first starts since the World Cup while Ilkay [Gundogan](https://www.mancity.com/players/ilkay-gundogan) is recalled and captains the side. City have only lost one of their last 25 away Premier League matches (W18 D6), losing 1-0 to Liverpool in October. City have won their first Premier League game in each of the last 10 calendar years, since a 1-0 loss at Sunderland in 2012. [Erling Haaland](https://www.mancity.com/players/erling-haaland) has seven goals in his six away Premier League appearances for City, netting twice in London in August against West Ham. Raheem Sterling scored 91 goals in 225 Premier League appearances for City between 2015 and 2022. [Pep Guardiola](https://www.mancity.com/players/pep-guardiola) has suffered eight defeats against Chelsea as a manager in all competitions, his joint-most against an opponent (also eight vs Liverpool). Chelsea hopeful of Mykhailo Mudryk deal after positive talks with ... (The Guardian)

Chelsea have been accused by Benfica's manager, Roger Schmidt, of 'disrespectful' behaviour in their pursuit of Enzo Fernández.

Benfica would like to keep the 21-year-old until the summer and Chelsea maintain they do not want to overpay and will walk away if a deal cannot be agreed. They try to get the player on their side and they know that they only can get this player when they pay the clause. What the club is doing who want to buy Enzo is disrespectful against all of us – against Benfica – and I cannot accept what they are doing. He is the third centre-half bought since the end of last season, after Kalidou Koulibaly and the injured Wesley Fofana. The reality for Chelsea is that the player would select Arsenal if presented with a choice between the London rivals. The club’s owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, are keen to improve Graham Potter’s squad after a disappointing run of form.

Three things to watch out for in Chelsea vs. Manchester City (Playing for 90)

Chelsea will face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in a crucial Premier League match on Thursday night. Chelsea have been struggling of late, losing three ...

City cannot allow any slip-ups, as they did against Everton when the Toffees scored their equalizer through a counter-attack. Kai Havertz is not particularly fast with the ball on his feet, but he will make City defenders job tougher by frequently moving to the flanks. Chelsea can also summon the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hakim Ziyech from the bench. With players like Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez at his disposal, he can make any side pay through changes made in the second half. Rico Lewis started as the right-back, but effectively shifted inside to play as a holding midfielder. Chelsea will face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in a crucial Premier League match on Thursday night.

Chelsea vs Manchester City live online: Mahrez goal, score, stats ... (AS English)

Live updates as Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, London, in the Premier League today, Thursday 5 January 2022. Kick-off: 3pm ET.

Benoît Badiashile completed his move from Monaco to Chelsea on Thursday. Kovacic and Pulisic start, as does Ziyech. He then went on to establish himself in Argentina’s eleven and won FIFA’s award for Young Player of the Tournament. The two sides meet again on Sunday in Manchester for an FA Cup tie. Ake deals with the Chelsea threat down the right and City recycle it. Now Koulibaly is down. It falls to the German midfielder 20 yards from goal. It's an excellent first touch by Haaland but you would expect him to hit the target. He shoots over with the outside of his left foot after being played in by Gundogan. Kovacic picks up a yellow for taking down Grealish, who had gone on the break. He has to hit the target. Aubameyang only had 14 touches when he came on.

Benfica manager Roger Schmidt criticizes the way Chelsea have gone about pursuing Enzo Fernandez. Schmidt believes Chelsea deliberately unsettled Fernandez.

He continued: "First of all Enzo is a very good boy and a fantastic football player. He missed the training so that is not acceptable. Schmidt added: "Enzo, we don't want to sell him, nobody wants to sell him at this club.

Chelsea desperately need a striker - so why have they been ... (Goal.com)

Chelsea have spent the past week trying to persuade Benfica to part company with Enzo Fernandez but the Argentina midfielder wouldn't solve their ...

Help is already on the way, of course. Of course, they were going to play hardball with Chelsea over [the best young player at the 2022 World Cup,](https://www.goal.com/en/news/argentina-enzo-fernandez-wins-world-cup-2022-young-player-of-the-tournament/bltba0a9699be0f0238) which has a proven track record of inflating fees. Let's face it, Kai Havertz is not the solution to Chelsea's goalscoring problem, and never will be. And, in this instance, the sense of bewilderment is more understandable. The main reason why the Blues sit 10th in the Premier League table is their malfunctioning forward line. Some fans are quite rightly wondering why Chelsea could conceivably break the Premier League transfer record for a player who wouldn't resolve their most pressing problem. But then, the shock surrounding the proposed deal is utterly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. They have, after all, a very winnable Champions League last-16 tie with Club Brugge to look forward to in the spring. Relatively speaking, then, a massive outlay on Fernandez makes sense. "I was hoping for a sofa," Benitez later lamented, "and they've brought me a lamp." Benfica also didn't expect anyone to even entertain paying his buy-out clause – at least not in January. In the summer of 2003, Rafael Benitez asked his employers at Valencia to sign Mallorca striker Samuel Eto'o.
