Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia fight prediction, odds, preview ... (CBSSports.com)

'Tank' is back in a big matchup as he prepares for a possible showdown with Ryan Garcia later this year.

That said, Davis is likely to be too good and too strong as he clears the final hurdle for the Ryan Garcia fight. Garcia is likely to give a solid effort and he is a good fighter, as his domination of Colbert made clear. Luckily, Garcia had already established too big of a lead for Gutierrez to overcome. Davis has clearly fought a better level of competition as Garcia turned pro late and took a while to get his professional career going. That set Garcia up for a shot at Gutierrez and the WBA title. "He beat a top contender and then won the belt. And Demetrius Andrade is set to make his debut at super middleweight when he takes on Demond Nicholson in the PPV opener. We know that he's a threat to everything I want to do. Garcia dominated Colbert, dropping him in the seventh round and getting a wide decision victory. "Garcia did what he had to do to earn this fight, Davis said. We're going to make sure this is a tough fight for him. ET) as a final tune-up for the already-agreed-upon April bout with Ryan Garcia.

Gervonta 'Tank' Davis Vs. Hector Luis Garcia: Odds, Records ... (Forbes)

Here's everything you need to know about Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia, as they battle for lightweight supremacy.

Here’s more info on the Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Some observers this week have compared Garcia to Isaac Cruz, at least in the way that they both could make life difficult for Davis early in the fight by out-boxing him and frustrating him. You could go with Davis to win by stoppage in rounds 7-12 for +105 or by stoppage in rounds 5-8 at +175. Whether those two big wins show he’s capable of upsetting Davis, well, that’s hard to know (though I wouldn’t bet on it). That would change if he beat Ryan Garcia in April. Davis is a surefire hit at the box office, and he’s proven that he can sell tickets while fighting in his native Baltimore, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn. [a -1600 favorite](https://www.nj.bet365.com/?_h=4r18ya75g2O4nRgTA2UqVg%3D%3D#/AC/B9/C20007979/D1/E148/F2/) (bet $1,600 to win $100), while Garcia is a +750 underdog (win $750 to win $100). I was in the same situation going into the [Chris] Colbert fight, but this time I had a real training camp. Davis has been feuding online with Ryan Garcia, and the two are expected to meet in April. He’s undefeated and he’s a great opponent. Whatever narrative that Gervonta “Tank” Davis wanted to bring in to his Saturday night lightweight showdown with Hector Luis Garcia was obliterated last month when Davis was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge of battery. Hector Luis Garcia, including the odds, their records and a prediction on who will win.

The pick is Davis by stoppage in an enjoyable battle. The arm length difference is negligible and Garcia is coming up in weight to face a man who has competed successfully as high as Jr. Garcia has to turn Davis’s selective offense into a weapon in his favor without getting iced. Instead, headlining the Capital One Arena for the first time since Mike Tyson in 2005, Davis is opting for one of the best and hottest Jr. For Garcia to win, he’s going to have to thread a difficult technical needle. Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25 KO) might have his eyes on a blockbuster fight with Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KO), but there's one more order of business to take care ...

Although he's smaller as a natural super featherweight, he is the more busy fighter and has the footwork to make Davis toil to find his knockout blow. Ultimately, that's how the fight is likely to play out. AZ/CO/CT/IL/IN/IA/LA/MI/NH/NJ/NY/OR/PA/TN/VA/WV/WY only. A loss in this tune-up fight would obviously take a lot of the wind out of the sails of that fight. He doesn't keep the "We know that he's a threat to everything I want to do. The lightweight titleholder hasn't fought since May of 2022. The goal is to put on a great performance, nothing else." Things should be interesting in the early going, and it's easy to envision a scenario in which Garcia takes the early rounds and appears to be headed toward the upset. The problem for Garcia is that Davis is a pure power puncher. If Garcia can use his jab and make Davis chase him, he has a chance to build an early lead on the cards. While Davis comes in as a massive favorite, there's a lot on the line for him.

Gervonta Davis finds his mojo in middle rounds to retain WBA ... (The Washington Post)

The Baltimore southpaw ran his record to 28-0 when his opponent, Hector Luis Garcia, was unable to answer the bell for the ninth round at Capital One Arena.

Davis attended that fight as a guest of Peterson’s and has credited the opportunity to hold those championship belts as motivation for his career. Davis ran his record to 28-0 with 26 knockouts in dispatching a challenger who last year unexpectedly rose to prominence by winning the WBA super featherweight title. Gervonta Davis Prevails, But Mentor Peterson Falls On Undercard (BoxingScene.com)

Perhaps Peterson knew what he did or didn’t have left in the tank, but felt his opponent was hapless enough and his world class talent from yesteryear was enough to get him through and make good on his promise to Tank. There is cell phone footage of Peterson’s loss to Ogundo, but in all likelihood, the bulk of his fanbase from his prime did not see it and may never see it. When asked what people could expect out of him in the fight, he answered “just for me to put on a good show, and for me to enjoy boxing again.” Peterson helped teach fighters about nutrition, discipline, and was always a willing hand at HeadBangers Boxing Gym when it came to getting in the ring and teaching. In 2023, Davis is one of the sport’s biggest draws, able to use his influence to help his friends in the sport and more specifically, give them positions on his card. Peterson had never really left the boxing orbit even after what was to be his final bout against Sergey Lipinets in March of 2019, continuing to train alongside and help coach his younger brother Anthony.
