Manchester derby set to be closest tie to date (BBC Sport)

Manchester United host Manchester City on Saturday in what could be one of their most evenly matched Premier League encounters in years.

- United have lost the last three league meetings. - This is Pep Guardiola's 500th top-flight match as a manager. They have never suffered five successive defeats versus the title holders. It will be a lot closer this time, but Pep will still collect the points. City striker Erling Haaland has scored 21 goals in 16 Premier League appearances. ["ridiculous" ideas](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64228486) about how his side will beat United, but I am pretty sure it will include giving Erling Haaland a start. "We have to prove that [how far they've come] on the pitch. - Manchester United have earned an unsurpassed 35 points in the Premier League since beating Liverpool on 22 August. We have to continue that process." I was concerned it could happen and unfortunately it did. - Manchester City's 6-3 Premier League win against Manchester United in October set a record for most goals in this fixture. "What happened didn't surprise me," said Guardiola.

Man Utd 2-1 Man City: Player ratings as Red Devils earn comeback ... (90min)

Match report and player ratings from Manchester United's Premier League meeting with Manchester City.

Erik ten Hag - 7/10 - Set his team up to strike on the counter. ST: Anthony Martial - 3/10 - Amid the fury of a derby, Martial's nonchalant approach grates even more than usual. CM: Casemiro - 8/10 - On hand to lend an extra broom when sweeping up City's attacks. Increasingly ventured forward after the interval. Passed up a raft of chances before finally tucking in. Rashford emphatically was interfering in all the best ways possible for United four minutes later. United had offered precious little threat in the second half before Bruno Fernandes knocked City out of their swagger in the 79th minute. However, the canny forward didn't touch the ball, letting it roll through for Fernandes to sweep United level. Eye-to-eye with the Brazilian keeper moments later, Rashford couldn't squeeze the ball past [Ederson](https://www.90min.com/players/ederson). [Marcus Rashford](https://www.90min.com/players/marcus-rashford). With Riyad Mahrez and Kyle Walker distracting Fred and Tyrell Malacia, De Bruyne scurried unchecked into United's box. Although, neither team could be accused of over-caution.

Manchester United extended their winning run after coming from behind to run out 2-1 winners in the Manchester Derby. The win puts United just one point ...

United’s starboy continues to impress when given the chance. Came on for Eriksen with 20 minutes to go which pushed Rashford central. Came on at half-time for Martial and started centrally to the surprise of many. Booked in the 65th minute for a lazy foul on Grealish and substitued for Garnacho in the 72nd minute. With the game looking to be heading City’s way, United’s captain stepped up to level the scores. De Bruyne eventually loosened the shackles to setup the opener for Grealish. With five minutes left on the clock, the Brazilian made another crucial intervention to prevent Haaland having a clear shot on goal. Another solid game for Luke Shaw who has formed a strong partnership with Varane in recent weeks. Didn’t have too much to do defensively with City’s main threats coming from other areas but did well when called upon. United’s no.1 has shown gradual improvement this season with the ball at his feet and impressed a few times when under pressure from City’s forward line. Marcus Rashford continued his fine form with the winner just five minutes later after great work from Alejandro Garnacho. The win puts United just one point behind their rivals and up to third in the Premier League.

We rate the players following Manchester City's derby collapse at Old Trafford.

And it got worse for Guardiola’s men when substitute Alejandro Garnacho delivered a pin-point cross as the second time of asking for Rashford to latch on to. Rashford was adjudged not to have interfered and the goal was given. That allowed Cancelo and Walker to get forward, and United were less of a threat as a result.

Man Utd player ratings: Rashford shines again despite injury scare ... (The Sun)

MANCHESTER UNITED came from behind to claim a 2-1 win over bitter rivals Manchester City on Saturday. After a solid first-half display, the Red Devils.

No time to make an impact after being introduced. A stand-out performance from the Brazilian. Rashford struggled to make the most of his chances throughout the first half and his game was almost cut dramatically short when he went to ground with a suspected hip injury in the 40th minute. We didn’t see too much of the Frenchman as he was bizarrely hauled off at half time, but he did pose a threat to City’s defence when he was on the pitch. Eriksen was able to unlock the Man City defence with a few outstanding passes during the first half, but he struggled to make as much of an impact after the break and was substituted with 20 minutes to go. Nevertheless, he was the man to level the score, albeit in controversial fashion, late in the game.
