Authorities don't know who is shooting free-roaming horses in the ... (NPR)

It's a mystery why dozens of horses are being found dead with gunshot wounds on public land near the Navajo Nation in Utah.

"If the BLM paid for the materials, I would be willing to build a fence along the river," Cressler says. "And so there's definitely been a lot more animals, cattle and horses that have come over." Cressler says he thinks it's unlikely a rancher with grazing rights on federal land shot the horses. "But when I talked to the BLM about using that, they told me ... "One came out the eye socket." The horses eat the scarce vegetation, which means less grass is available for other animals, including the cattle that ranchers run on a lot of federally owned land. Lightning comes down and hits the ground and makes that vibration," he says. "Ricocheted out right there," he adds as he points to another small hole in the skull. It doesn't take long for him to pick out the bleaching bones of a dead animal in the morning sun against the mostly bare beige soil. "Oh my goodness that's a lot of horses," his brother exclaims. But an ancient breed of horse native to North America is part of the Navajo creation story. To others, they're an out of control population displacing cattle and damaging the ecosystem.

Plymouth shooting: Gunman 'did not hesitate' before killing himself (BBC News)

Jake Davison killed his mother and then shot dead four others, including a girl, in Plymouth.

Much of the review was taken up talking about how to get involved with guns… He loves guns and he wants to join a gun club. Ms Roberts said she met Davison on 7 December 2016 to talk about his career prospects and he told her his "real passion" was firearms and he wanted to work in a firearms shop. His Year 9 review with Careers South West (CSW) stated Davison was "ASD [autism spectrum disorder] and OCD [obsessive compulsive disorder] with regards to guns. Jurors were told the vast majority of Davison's "extensive" online history was "unremarkable" but they also heard about a number of disturbing posts, videos and content Davison had either viewed or published. The subsequent 999 call Ms Hill made to police was played to the jury with Ms Hill telling the operator her sister's son had "mental health issues", had grabbed her by the throat and would not let her out of a bedroom.

One of the most disturbing findings was a video where Davison spoke of his disillusionment with life and his mother walked into the room. The police officer in charge of the probe into the Keyham tragedy said after an independent review of his internet use, there was no evidence that showed any planning of what was to come or intent to commit violence. Police found he had just one live cartridge left in the gun and had no other ammunition with him. Investigator David Miller from Devon and Cornwall Police said just eight minutes elapsed between the first shooting of Ms Davison and the last of Ms Shepherd.

Charging Decision Expected in Alec Baldwin 'Rust' Shooting as ... (Vanity Fair)

Footage seized by investigators of Alec Baldwin rehearsing the scene that would kill cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

A third was in a bandolier worn by one of the performers, and a fourth was found in a brown holster. Any one of the live rounds of ammunition mingled around the set could have turned lethal during these scenes. While no other live rounds were found inside actual weapons, their presence on the prop cart and on the costumes of the actors demonstrates just how easily one of them could have been introduced into one of the firearms at any point during the production. “This box contained 36 suspected dummy rounds, and one suspected live round, which is the cartridge that was tested.” The report focuses primarily on the actions of Baldwin, who was also a producer on the movie, assistant director Dave Halls, whom Baldwin says handed him the weapon and declared it was an inert “cold gun,” and armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was responsible for equipping the firearms on the movie. The FBI lab also states that releasing the hammer when it was pulled back only a quarter or half did not result in enough impact to fire a round.
