India vs New Zealand Live Cricket Score, 1st T20 Match Updates: Hardik Pandya has won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Follow live score and updates of ...

This one serves a double role of a desert after the main course that was the ODI series against New Zealand and a taster before an even bigger meal that will be the much awaited Test series against Australia. Ruturaj Gaikwad is injured and out for the series but India have not gone for a replacement. Once again, there is no Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and it is likely that these players won't be there in T20 series for the immediate future. Shaw's last international appearance for India was also his only T20I match and that came against Sri Lanka on July 25, 2021. "The ball will skid on but there could be a little bit of help with the new ball." Hardik Pandya flips the coin and wins the toss. Both Umran Malik and Lockie Ferguson regularly touch speeds of over 150kph. Putting runs on the board and then defending would be challenging. He will bowl to Finn Allen with Devon Conway at the other end. Fifth ball, similar delivery and this time it is bludgeoned to the other side past mid-on for four. Arshdeep has already bowled 2 wides before getting his second delivery right and now the third is bludgeoned along the ground past the bowler by Allen for four. -

Santner slowed it up and got the ball to spin away wide of off, Shubman Gill thought it was a long hop and tried to maul the pull leg-side. Got a faint outside edge and the keeper did the rest. Santner was very confident about the edge and went up for the review almost instantly. Lures SKY onto the front foot with a full delivery and gets enough turn off the deck to beat him all ends up on the outside edge A tame push and past the edge 3.6 Santner to Suryakumar Yadav, no run, my word!

The onus to rebuild the chase is on the shoulders of Surya and Hardik. The Indian skipper has begun to show his A game. Poor choice of shot from the Indian captain and he pays the ultimate price. The ball pops out of his hands and Sundar is safe. Sundar and Hooda are currently batting and the Men in Blue have 5 wickets in hand. He gets under the delivery and smashes it over cow corner for a much-needed maximum. India vs New Zealand 1st T20I Highlights: Opener Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell struck half-centuries to guide New Zealand to a comfortable 21-run win in the first T20I of the three-match series here on Friday. With this win, New Zealand go 1-0 up in the series. Mitchell Santner scores a direct hit at the non-striker’s end and catches Shivam Mavi might short of his crease. The visitors were on top of the game right from the beginning. But the hosts didn’t have the best of starts. For India, Washington Sundar (2/22) scalped two wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav (1/20), Shivam Mavi (1/19) and Arshdeep Singh (1/51) accounted for one batter each.

CRR: 7.75. Batting, R(B), 4s, 6s, SR. Arshdeep Singh*, 0(6), 0, 0, 0. Umran Malik, 4(1), 1, 0, 400. Bowling, O, M, R, W. Jacob Duffy*, 3, 0, 27, 1.

We knew it was spinning in the powerplay and it was nice to chip one out. I was trying to get it to skid on a little bit (Ishan Kishan's wicket) it's one of those ones, nice to pick up a wicket early in the innings and as a bowling unit, we were able to capitalize on that start. Santner ( 4-1-11-2) was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers and the skipper was well supported by his spin partners. But it was a great game and it was pretty tight at the end, we saw a lot of runs in the ODI series and it was nice to see the ball spin a bit more. It was nice to chip away some wickets in the powerplay and we had troubled doing that in the ODIs. In an era of match ups, Santner got his spot on and India were rocked early as they were 15 for 3; Bracewell accounted for the left handed Kishan, Duffy sent back Tripathi and Santner outfoxed the right handed Gill. SKY and Hardik steadied the innings and brought India back into the contest by the halfway mark, but the pair departed in successive overs and left the lower order with too much to do. There was a little bit of moisture out there towards the end, probably not as much as we were expecting. Player of the Match: It is nice to contribute to a score which helps us win a game. It is nice to take some momentum into the rest of the T20 series. It was my job to build a partnership and then take the onus on myself after Conway's departure. India would put this as one of their off days for the batters and look to come back strongly in the next game.

Conway, Mitchell help New Zealand down India in T20 opener (News24)

Opener Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell hit quickfire fifties to set up a convincing victory for New Zealand in the first T20I against India.

Suryakumar got into the hitting mode, clubbing six fours and two sixes in his 47, before he mistimed a shot to long-on off leg-spinner Ish Sodhi. Two more wickets in the next two overs put India in trouble before Suryakumar Yadav (47) and Hardik Pandya (21) put the chase back on track in a partnership of 68. Conway took time before he changed gears and smashed tearaway quick Umran Malik for two fours and a six in the eighth over.

IND vs NZ: Fans fume after Prithvi Shaw snubbed from 1st T20I (Firstpost)

According to Pandya, Gill was preferred over Shaw because of his exceptional batting performances in the just-finished ODI series against New Zealand.

However, it all went in vain as other batters failed to stay longer on the crease, resulting in a 21-run loss for India. Popular gadgets including laptop, tablet and mobile specifications, features, prices, comparison. Among others, Suryakumar Yadav and Washington Sundar shone with the bat scoring 47 and 50 runs respectively. Will always back this. Have always been saying this. [January 27, 2023] On the eve of the series opener in Ranchi, India’s interim T20I captain Hardik Pandya announced that Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill will play as the openers. So he should get the opportunity first. However, he failed to get a place in the opening T20I as India preferred to go with in-form opener Shubman Gill. Young opener Prithvi Shaw has returned to the national team after a long time thanks to his impressive show in the domestic circuit. Though a few fresh faces have been called up for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand, it is not that easy to accommodate them all in the same set owing to the fact that more than one player is there for a single spot. Numerous memes and posts criticising the BCCI as well as head coach Rahul Dravid surfaced on the internet.
