Teen Wolf: How The Movie Addressed Stiles' Absence (Seventeen.com)

Despite the namedrops and subtle references to Stiles' character, there was no official explanation for his absence. The revival also referenced the jeep that Stiles became known for in the hit series. Read ahead for spoilers on how Teen Wolf: The Movie explained Stiles' absence. Mason Stilinski, Stiles' dad, first mentioned his son while investigating a series of fires set in the woods near Beacon Hills early in the film. Now that Teen Wolf: The Movie finally debuted on Paramount Plus on January 26, those questions have finally been answered. Tyler Posey and Holland Roden were among the original Teen Wolf series cast who reprised their roles in the new Paramount Plus revival Teen Wolf: The Movie.

How Does 'Wolf Pack' Tie Into 'Teen Wolf'? (Collider.com)

With both shows having been created by Jeff Davis, there are obvious similarities. But do they exist in the same universe?

Wolf Pack is a chance for Davis and the other writers to do things differently, listen to the complaints fans had about the supernatural rules, and avoid the same mistakes that Teen Wolf made along the way (as any show does, eventually). Things had already become rather complex and convoluted by the end of the show — so much so that the recently-premiered movie rewrote and ignored much of the established lore about the Nogitsune to make the story work. Davis has been very adamant about that fact in interviews, telling SFX Magazine, “There can be two werewolf shows that exist in separate spaces.” However, for those that were hoping for a different answer, there are still similarities that make Wolf Pack very accessible to fans of Teen Wolf. He must learn how to be a werewolf and a hero and is forced to dig into the mystical rules of the universe. Given the very obvious similarities between the two series, it’s easy to assume Wolf Pack is a continuation of the Teen Wolf universe, especially as there aren’t many werewolf stories being told in Hollywood. Ultimately, the series has a large story to tackle with the potential to provide great storytelling going forward.

Teen Wolf: The Movie ending explained: All your questions, answered (digitalspy.com)

Teen Wolf: The Movie has now arrived on Paramount+ and its shocking ending delivers a devastating twist for Teen Wolf fans.

"He's part of your pack now," he tells Scott before shoving him out of the way and telling Parrish to "light this f**ker up". "A move so brilliant and it is inspired to change the shape of the entire game, a move only a God could make," as Peter explained it. Someone has to play the martyr and on this rare occasion it's not Scott volunteering as tribute. The only way to do so is for Parrish to use his hell fire to scorch him to death. The three draw on their pack bond and howl to unite themselves before detaining the Nogitsune with Parrish's help. It was thought that Harris had died after being tied to a tree and garroted to death by the dark druid or Darach pretending to be a teacher known as Jennifer Blake. After cheers and yelps the onlookers exit in drones leaving the real game to begin. It could be his yearning to settle down and have a family which is made very clear from the offset, or it could have something to do with the visions of Allison (Crystal Reed) he's been getting. This great plan has the Oni capturing some of Scott's loved ones and trapping them in a world of illusion. In doing so she comes to slowly accept that he is not a danger to her Though somehow she is susceptible enough to be tricked into believing that Scott is the enemy who destroyed her loved ones – who she only half remembers. The mysterious evil reveals that he wants revenge on Scott and his pack meaning this new foe is not so new.

Exclusive: Teen Wolf Stars Discuss Their Return to Beacon Hills in ... (MovieWeb)

Stars Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, and Shelley Hennig spoke with MovieWeb about returning to Teen Wolf in a new movie.

It was challenging for me a little bit because, you know, I was a little apprehensive of if I had the chops to play this character again. I want to bring it back in any way, in a cartoon, any capacity if there's Teen Wolf, I want to be all over it. And I was like back in it and super proud of it. We are very blessed and lucky to get the opportunity to do something that not a lot of people do. “It was unexpected on my end," said Hennig about news of the film. But when she remembers who she is, that just came very easily.” For Posey, it was also a bit challenging at first, but for different reasons. So, it was challenging and so much that I had to develop that and live with that in my body. Shelly Hennig was a delightful addition to the cast in season three, playing the 'werecoyote' Malia Tate. I was just super grateful, super stoked, immediately on board, no matter what the storyline was going to be. 'Teen Wolf: The Movie' Review: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly (Fangirlish)

Jackson wasn't the only character bringing the laughs; everyone dished out a bit. Eli, Coach, and Derek brought quite the comedic relief through Eli's lack of ...

It was heartwarming to see these family dynamics and old faces, but it was hard to be content with the storyline being fed to us when the execution was underwhelming. All we learned was that she and Liam were close and that she was a kitsune. Kira would’ve added the suspense, and it would’ve made sense that she returned to help Scott because she knows him. It was unnecessary, and none of us bought for a second that the characters had died. She could have easily told him that she was going on a girl’s trip and could’ve kept him in the dark until she returned to him. In addition, all the antagonists were underwhelming, and the reveal of the main antagonist was just a teacher we all forgot about the minute his character exited the series. It’s not fair to viewers to hype up the movie around a character we never learn about and then don’t see again. While the picture quality was entirely upgraded, that was about as good as it got. It’s fair to say that the movie asks more questions than it answers, and as viewers, the lack of clarity makes it hard to focus on the plot. While the Oni was an excellent way to bring her back and tie up Season 3, it felt like a repeat, especially when the promo led us down a darker direction. It was quite touching when Lydia screamed and was able to save her, and how she remembered and fought for the people she was brainwashed into attacking. Eli Hale needs to be protected at all costs because he is all the best parts of Derek with the opportunity to be more than the Hale legacy.

5 Ways 'Teen Wolf: The Movie' Ruins the Legacy of the Series Forever (We Got This Covered)

A day after its release, the Paramount Plus film immediately garnered a panoply of critics, even if amidst an unmatched nostalgia that only comes from a teen's ...

Sure, perhaps most of them aren’t positive notes, but at least the film’s existence served a very obvious purpose: to fill the nostalgic hole left in our hearts from this trailblazing werewolf show. Off-screen, the Beta wolf was the father to Eli, who was undergoing his own wolf transformation over the course of the movie. Not going in the car wasn’t a possibility, and for this reason, they had to end their relationship. Why he chose to die a painful death in a fire, right in front of his 16-year-old, we may never know. [Derek decided to sacrifice himself](https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/who-dies-in-teen-wolf-the-movie/) — in spite of having a child and much more to lose than any of the other members of the pack. This call in the plot proved to be a particularly-criticized decision from the creator’s end. Considering Scott and Allison were two of the main characters in the series, it comes off as no surprise that they were still one of the most popular couples among fans. This incessant declaration of love was cut short because Lydia had a dream in which Stiles would die if she got in the car with him. Despite pining for six years, with their relationship only becoming official in the last season, this incredibly popular couple, whose favoritism is on par with that of Scott and Allison, broke up out of thin air. Even though the film is set 16 years after the events of the series, miraculously, not only is Allison resurrected, but she also returns the same age as the rest of her peers. Although the show lasted for two more seasons, the possibility of Allison’s return was never on the table — well, until now. These are just some of the instances when Teen Wolf: The Movie completely jeopardized all that the series created for six seasons.
