Ice-man Miller believes Jansen can become his spiritual Proteas ... (News24)

David Miller has little doubt Marco Jansen can add to his ever-expanding cricketing repertoire by eventually becoming the type of "finisher" he already is ...

The maturity he batted with was so good to see and I'm very chuffed for him. Anyone that can do that has an advantage over the opposition already," he said. "He put the pressure on the bowlers from the word go and kept that tempo so it was a match-winning knock. "For Marco, it's just about trying to work out a game plan as time goes on in international cricket. "It's the first time I batted with him. "Marco definitely benefitted from [the fluidity of the situation in Bloemfontein].

Jofra Archer's six of the best powers England to win over Proteas in ... (Independent Online)

Jofra Archer starred with the ball as England beat South Africa in the third ODI at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Wednesday evening.

The South African run-chase began in rapid fashion with captain Temba Bavuma once again kickstarting the innings. Archer’s performance will certainly fill the fast bowler with plenty of confidence after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury. Cape Town — England finally broke their barren run of five consecutive ODI defeats with a 59-run victory over South Africa in the third and final match of the series in Kimberley.

South Africa will also not want to be shy on over rates either in those matches lest they be docked Super League points. That's what Wednesday night's 59-run ...

Sisanda Magala had a day to forget as he struggled with his line while Tabraiz Shamsi’s future in the 50-over team might be in jeopardy following another largely anonymous performance. The acceleration was rapid — they scored 217 runs in the last 20 overs. There were 18 in total, including nine wides and three no-balls, which, following on from the 34 they bowled in the second ODI on Sunday, illustrated a problem. They have provided glimpses of a new attacking style, but in trying to change their mindsets they will also make mistakes. In Markram’s next over, Buttler hammered another straight four and Malan followed suit a few balls later reverse sweeping the part-time off-spinner for another boundary. They were always walking that fine line in this series against the world champions.

Qualification is no longer entirely in national cricket squad's hands after Wednesday night's 59-run defeat to England.

After a period of consolidation, however, Buttler and Malan took to the bowling and smashed the home attack to all parts. But the victory ended a run of five successive losses for England in ODI cricket as they build towards the defence of their world title. South Africa won the toss and asked England to bat on Wednesday, reducing the visitors to 3-14 before Buttler (131 from 127 balls) and Malan (118 from 114) shared a stunning fourth-wicket stand of 232 in a total of 7-346.

A number of the South Africa batsmen got starts, but England kept chipping away at the wickets with Archer easily the most impressive as he begins to find top form following his return from long-term injury. South Africa won the toss and sent England into bat, reducing the visitors to 14-3 before Buttler (131 from 127 balls) and Malan (118 from 114) shared a stunning fourth-wicket stand of 232 in a total of 346 for seven. South Africa won the series 2-1 to keep alive their hopes of automatic qualification for the World Cup in India later this year, though they may still have to win both ODIs against Netherlands in March and April to make sure.

Jofra Archer blew apart the Proteas run-chase with career-best figures of 6/40 as England beat South Africa by 59 runs in the third and final Betway ODI ...

A lot of boxes ticked in the series. Bavuma had won the toss for the third time in the series and made the correct decision to put England in to bat on a tacky pitch moistened by overnight rain. He broke the game open with the wicket of Klaasen.” The fun, from an English point of view, came to a temporary halt in the 42nd over when Malan top-edged a pull off Sisanda Magala and the skier was caught by the wicketkeeper. Ngidi, so deadly in his opening spell, then felt the pain of conceding 18 runs as Malan began to open up. The 100 partnership came up in 133 balls and there were few alarms to trouble the batsmen although Malan was dropped twice – two very difficult chances to Hendricks at midwicket and Tabraiz Shamsi off his own bowling. Gradually, as the sun baked the pitch and the ball grew softer, the run-rate began to pick up. Jason Roy was the first to go, playing too early and punching a drive straight to Bavuma at mid-off. Remarkably, 217 runs came off the final 20 overs as England surged to their target. They added 85 in 54 balls for the seventh wicket but the rush of runs was halted when Archer bowled a slower ball, enticing Klaasen to mistime a hook to Ben Duckett running in from deep square leg. Reeza Hendricks, in for the injured Quinton de Kock, started slowly but soon began striking a series of elegant strokes as he went to his fifth ODI half-century. With England struggling early on in their innings, only reaching 20 for three in the first power play, South Africa were always ahead of the required run rate.

If they want you in the team, they'll have you in it... "It was tough for me to come back and play that positive type of cricket. The aim to play aggressive cricket is not new, it was there in 2018 already. If we want to keep playing in this manner, the consistency will be up and down. "For the batters, it's just about believing and riding the wave when you're in-form. "That's also where players and coaches need to keep buying into the plan.
